My question selling it for what exactly?

If he is still coping with his family and living well but just unable to develop the land.... There is no problem if he has children and are growing definitely it's an asset he has its a leverage. So he should just live his normal life his children can develop it if things don't fall in place.

But hopefully I suggest don't sell that land.

Selling for fear of not being able to complete it. It remains to roof it anyway and we all know roofing is money consuming. More importantly, since the lintel level has stayed 12 years, will it collapse? Or is it still good to go ahead with the roofing?
