Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta in Ogun State has recorded another fatality from the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) following the death of a police officer admitted by the centre.

Confirming the incident, the hospital’s management, in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Segun Orisajo, said the officer was presented at the General Outpatients Department of the hospital about three days ago.

The statement explained that the officer died the same day but his result returned positive in the early hours of Sunday.

“The centre has recorded the death of a patient who tested positive for coronavirus.

“The deceased, a Force man presented in the General Outpatients Department about three days ago. He later died same day.



“The result of his test returned this morning positive,” the hospital said.

The management revealed that the remains of the deceased were being prepared for the release to the family for burial.

“His body is being prepared for release to his family for burial in strict compliance with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines,” the statement added.

The management revealed that all staff who came in contact with the deceased are currently on self-isolation.
