The African continent has been blessed with many great footballers. It will be somewhat difficult to pick the greatest among them.

But, here is a short list of African great footballers:

Samuel Eto'o
He was a prolific goalscorer, and a four times African player of the year. He won three UEFA Champions League title. Widely regarded as one of Africa greatest striker of all time, in his prime he was admired as one of the best striker in the world.

George Weah;
He is retired Liberian professional footballer. He was known for his acceleration, dribbling skills coupled with an exceptional finishing. He won the Ballon d'or in 1995(The only African to do so).

Abedi Pele;
He is an attacking midfielder who found success with ligue1 club Marseille and Lille. He was awarded African player of the year thrice and won the UEFA Champions League once, among other titles.

Roger Milla;
He is a retired Cameroonian professional footballer. He is a prolific goalscorer and was known to have scored 405 goals throughout his Club career. He is the oldest goalscorer in World Cup history.

Didier Drogba;
He was well known for his time with Chelsea where he won the UEFA Champions League once and was four times Premier league champion. He won the African player of the year twice.

Kanu Nwankwo played for Nigerian team Iwuanyanwu Nationale, Dutch side Ajax, Inter Milan of Italy, and English clubs Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth.[7]

Kanu won a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup medals and two African Player of the Year awards amongst others. He is one of few players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.[8] He made the third-most substitute appearances in Premier League history, appearing from the bench 118 times,[9] and is regarded as one of the best players in African football history.[10]

He is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador,[11] and African brand ambassador for digital TV operator StarTimes.[12] He is also the owner of Kanu Sports TV, an Internet Sports Television which position to be the first indigenous sports TV in Nigeria,[13] Kanu Sports Television[14]
