Self-esteem as defined by the English dictionary is: confidence in one's own worth; self-respect.

So many times, the cause of lack of progress in our lives is the simple concept of not knowing your own worth... To a vast majority, it's a vague concept; too ambiguous to fathom. So we rest on the reality of what we understand; what we see everyday_ the endless stream of wants.

We say, " when i achieve this or that, I'll feel better about myself". The truth remains that we've never truly accepted ourselves, or our flaws completely, so we create versions of us that suits the world but ourselves.. forgetting that too much change breeds inconsistency. The underlying feeling here is that of iinadequacy; not feeling good enough.

The root cause of this phenomenon (not feeling good enough) is absolutely the product of shining too much spotlight on external gratification and so little on internal stability, laying the building blocks of success in our minds, which has the potency of directing our actions.

Rick pitino said, "You can expect great things from people who feel good about themselves"

Again, He asserts that " the power of self-esteem is the most important determining factor in reaching our potential"... Still in his words; put simply, "Extraordinary self-esteem produces extraordinary things"

It is imperative therefore, that attention be paid to addressing how we confront issues of self worth cause a low self-esteem is equivalent to low productivity.

However, self esteem must be earned to possess significant value says Rick.
This translates to the fact that; a worthy sense of self has to be result oriented. Take a boy who comes last in class every time for example, the obvious route to feeling better and building self-esteem would be to put in time studying, hour after hour.. Or an overweight person that aims to shed some weight. All have to put in the effort.
The resultant effect of that would be positive change which in turn produces a good feeling; self-esteem.

The focus here therefore, should be on one's self, trying to be better by putting in positive action in a positive direction, cause for every action, there is an equal reaction.

You must endeavor to do the little you can today to change how you view yourself through your minds eye.

Confucius said: " the man who wants to move a mountain starts by moving away small stones"

Start today to work on how you feel about yourself, and you'll come to the realisation that: impossible is nothing. Wealth can be yours too.
