Ohikere Congratulates New CoS, Gambari On His Appointment



Dr. Tom Ohikere, the Deputy National Chairman of the APC support Groups and the Managing Director of APC news online has congratulated Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari over his appointment as the new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ohikere said in a statement issued to newsmen today that Gambari's appointment is a well deserved one rooted in his accumulated years of experience, dedication, loyalty and accomplishments.

"The new chief of Staff, an Ilorin prince, born on November 24, 1944 is a scholar, seasoned diplomat, he's a global citizen and a man of international repute haven served as minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985. He was appointed by former United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-moon and the chairperson of the African Union Commission as Joint African Union-United Nations Special Representative for Darfur in 2010.

"He also served as Special Adviser on the International Compact with Iraq and Other Issues for the UN Secretary General. Prior to that, he served as Under-Secretary General of the United Nation for the Department of Political Affairs (DPA)."

Gambari, as foreign minister, played a key role in quelling the diplomatic uproar generated by the failed attempt to kidnap Mallam Umaru Dikko from UK by the Buhari military government.

Ohikere however thanked Buhari for appointing Professor Ibrahim Gambari as his new Chief of Staff saying it is the right choice for such an enormous responsibility and prayed God to grant him the grace to contribute his wealth of experience towards actualising the next level agenda of the President.

While looking forward to forging partnerships that will continue to support the achievement of Nigeria and Africa’s devt agenda, he said.
