Why is it that the office of the CoS has been attached so much importance from 2015 till date?

How many of you knew who the former CoS of the democratic government from 1998 - 2014? [I personally never cared to know though]

Could it be that the position of the CoS is now a political thingy? Or could it be that the CoS makes decisions on behalf of president?

What's your take on this matter?

Because he's the 2nd in command ...
Aside the vice president, he's the closest to the president...

He has a say in almost everything, with permission from the president...

In presidency, COS is mostly the most trusted to any president.

They act like personal assistant to president, booking of appointment whether minister or any other person. Without his approval, you can not see the president.

All depends on personal relationship

When you have a weak president, this always happens.

Someone says, "Without his approval, you can not see the president".

Imagine the time of Obasanjo, there's crisis in Lagos and some chieftain has to beg CoS before seeing the president? NO!, he will call the president and the president will tell him when to see him and instruct the CoS to inform him (or allow him in) when he arrives

Forget the glorified name, he is just a PA made powerful by a weak president

The thing is:

The CoS can only be as powerful as the president wants.

My opinion : 'Weak' presidents require very strong Chiefs of Staff to complement them.
