Jesus Christ Crucified Did Not Permit Divorce by ochibuogwu5: 6:11pm On May 16, 2020
I hate divorce says the Lord (Malachi 2:16)
Jesus said to the Pharisees; God did not permit divorce from the beginning but Moses gave such permissions because of the *hardness of your hearts*.
He said *except on the cases of infidelity*, such persons should be separated.
The Greek word for *infidelity* used in those scriptures is *pornea* which *fornication/sexual sins committed by those who are not yet married*
Thus those who are not yet married but they are already getting into sexual sins should be *separated*.

This is why He(Jesus) went ahead to say *if you marry a divorced person who had been married you commit adultery* and if you send out your married spouse under the guise of divorce then such person engages in any other marriage, you are making him/her an adulterer.

It is not that if you marry a man or woman who had engaged in sexual immorality in their youthful days but is now repented and believes in Jesus Christ, you are committing adultery.

So many people are even legally married on the altar but they are only committing fornication because God did not call them into marriage as their ministry/vocation or they married the person God did not approve for them and they know this truth but they are trying to impose their will upon God and living to impress human beings.

This is why the woman who had married 6-husbands according to the law of their land confessed she has no husband and Jesus confirmed that she was saying the truth; that indeed she is not married. (John 4:16-18)

I am not encouraging *infidelity in marriage* rather righteousness and unflinching faithfulness but anyone who is called to marriage-vocation should be *aware* that it can happen because we are still human beings who have *free-will* despite our spirituality hence we should be willing to forgive unconditionally as Christ forgave us(sinners) on the Cross. This unconditional forgiveness between couple was examplified in the marriage between Hosea(the righteous prophet) and Gomarhh (the prostitute even inside marriage) {Hosea 1 & 2}

It takes only a man or woman who has hardness of heart to engage in divorce that is an unbeliever because believers *always forgive like Christ*; "Father forgive them because they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34)

This is why the disciples exclaimed, it is better not to marry based upon what Jesus taught them as marriage requirements before God(Matthew 19:10).

You can only remarry if your spouse is dead (Romans 7:1-3)

The love of Christ Jesus Crucified forgives all things unconditionally (Matthew 6:14-15, Luke 23:34, 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, 2 Corinthians 5:14-15)

For the cases of domestic violence, those validly married in Jesus Christ Crucified are *temporary separated* while undergoing counseling and prayers with the aim of restoring and reconciling their marriage. During this temporary separation non of the spouse is permitted to engage in sexual immorality or get married to another person as long as their spouse is still alive
(Romans 7:1-3)

We pray that the Holy Spirit will help our generation of Christians to search out for what pleases HIM and be completely yielded to HIM in all aspects of our lives both hidden and public in Jesus Name. Amen.
