Rogation Sunday is celebrated Every 5th Sunday after Easter, the Sunday proceeding Ascension Day.

Historically, the rogation days the three day before Ascension Monday- Wednesday were period of fasting. Rogation comes from the Latin word ‘ rogare’, which means, “to beseech.” It is a day, when the church specially asks for God’s blessing on the seed that have been or will be planted, the soil that have been cultivated, and the farmers who labour in the field and for the good of all Mankind.

In 470 Archbishop Mamertus proclaimed a fast and ordered that special litanies and prayers be said and that his people should processed around their fields, in order to pray for the protection of his earthquakes ravaged diocese from further tremor and destruction.

This year rogation Sunday could not have come at a better time in the face of this global epidemic and economic down-turn we need to turn to God and ask for His mercy, healing and restoration.
John 16:23-33, Jesus Christ assured us that His Father would give us whatever we ask in His name. We should be confident that our God is interested in our welfare and ever willing to hear us when we pray. God will surely bless and heal our land, if we call on His name with respect to calamities and adversities of our land (2Chron. 7:13-14). The Lord explicitly bids us to ask and we will receive; to seek and we will find; and to knock and it will be opened to us (Matt. 7:7-11).

```Let us pray.
Most merciful and compassionate God, hear our cry,
in your mercy forgive our sins, heal our land and restore to us a time of joy , peace and tranquility.
Give us we beseech you oh Lord, divine understanding of our responsibilities that each of us will be effective and responsive at our various point of duty to do all that is require of us to your honour and praise. Amen.
