CYMS Congratulates Gambari On His Appointment As The New Chief Of Staff

The committee of youths on mobilization and Sensitization ( CYMS) has congratulated Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari (CFR) on his appointment as the new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Director General of the Committee Of Youth On Mobilization and Sensitization, Comrade Obinna Nwaka in a statement issued on Friday by the Director Media, Comrade Otobong Gabriel described Gambari's appointment as a well deserved one rooted in his vast wealth of experience and loyalty.

He said as an academia, scholar and seasoned career diplomat who had served in various capacities both at home and on the international scene particularly at the United Nations, was no doubt fitted to the job.

According to Nwaka, Gambari would bring his unrivalled wealth of knowledge to bare in the discharge of his new responsibility as the Chief of Staff to the President and ‘engine house’ of the Presidency.

"The new chief of Staff, an Ilorin prince, born on November 24, 1944 is a scholar and seasoned diplomat, he served as minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985. He was appointed by former United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-moon and the chairperson of the African Union Commission as Joint African Union-United Nations Special Representative for Darfur in 2010.

"He also served as Special Adviser on the International Compact with Iraq and Other Issues for the UN Secretary General. Prior to that, he served as Under-Secretary General of the United Nation for the Department of Political Affairs (DPA)."

Gambari, as foreign minister, played a key role in quelling the diplomatic uproar generated by the failed attempt to kidnap Mallam Umaru Dikko from UK by the Buhari military government.

Nwaka however thanked Buhari for appointing Professor Ibrahim Gambari as his new Chief of Staff saying it is the right choice for such an enormous responsibility and prayed God to grant him the grace to contribute his wealth of experience towards actualising the next level agenda of the President.

While looking forward to forging partnerships that will continue to support the achievement of Nigeria's development agenda, he said.
