SEO: Search Engine Optimization. A buzzword, part of a booming industry that has shot to the forefront of modern marketing. Anyone who has spent anything beyond a few hours on the internet has at least heard of it—but most people don’t even know that at the head of the SEO front, women are leading the charge.

Generally speaking, the tech industry still has a way to go before becoming an all-around diverse industry. Offering equal opportunities in terms of both hiring and growth is not everywhere, and the potential for career development is often stunted.

Pioneers in the industry
However—SEO has become the centrepiece for innovative and inspirational women, who are more than proving their worth as pioneers in the industry.

SEO in general is all about detail-oriented approaches that look at optimizing every little detail about a website in order to rank better in SERPs. From the website’s code to its content, the key to good SEO is being able to cover the details with a sure-handed approach. It is the perfect opportunity environment for women to flourish and apply SEO foundations and mix them together with their prior backgrounds as well.

As the modern world is being led into the just revolution of equal opportunities, having women pioneers in industries is imperative to showing their true potential. And in SEO—you’ve got pioneers and role models everywhere.

Every enormous company that’s made a name for themselves in the last few decades has had an approach to revolutionize their marketing in the digital world—meaning SEO. In all of these companies, someone spearheaded the movement to and from their establishment in the internet world.

And unlike most 20th companies that revolutionized and changed the market(s) of their time, these companies have their fair share of women taking the lead.

The Power of Women
With global names like Uber, Verve, NotARobot, JLH Marketing—all having women working with, on, or using SEO—all of whom have the experience and know-how to get to the top and stay there. (Jackie Chu at SEOAlbeta , Jamie Alberico at NotARobot, Areej Abu Ali at Verve, Jenny Halasz at SAV , Tina Brian and Elizabeth George at Webcarpenter SEO ). The online success of these companies should be more than enough to convince you of the success and sure-fire formula of hiring women to elevate your company to the top with SEO.

Even within the SEO industry itself, pioneers that changed the whole shape of the trade such as Orainti, EightByEight, TopSpot Internet Marketing; all of these are well-known names to SEO specialists, and all of them were founded or are headed by amazing women. (Aleyda Solis as founder of Orainti, Amy Africa of EightByEight, Anita Perez at TopSpot Marketing).

With their experience, expertise and approach, these amazing women are fantastic role models that are STILL dominating the SEO industry.

Suffice to say that SEO is a solid, phenomenal start to opening the eyes of the tech industry to the revolutionary and innovative changes equal opportunities bring to the table. Any tech and SEO companies should indisputably look to hire more women -
