The Big Brother Naija is a reality show in which contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize worth as much as 100,000 dollars or more at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted by viewers.

The first edition of the show was held in 2006 and the 4th edition was held last year with Mercy Eke emerging as the winner at the end. The 5th edition of the popular show is set to get underway.

Normally, the Big Brother Naija auditions are held physical locations across Nigeria; Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Calabar, Warri, Enugu, with over 5,000 contestants in attendance for the last edition. Unfortunately, this would not be the case this year following the Covid-19 pandemic.

As Big Brother Naija season 5 is set to return this year, Multichoice has made a big announcement on how the audition for the show would be held. See details below; Participants are expected to record a two-minute video of themselves stating why they should be picked to be a housemate in BBNaija season five (2020).

Following this, they are to log on to www.africamagic.tv/BBAudition to fill out the online registration form and upload their videos. The online audition is free and open to Interested male and female participants who are of Nigerian nationality with a valid Nigerian passport and must be 21 years of age by June 1, 2020


Speaking on the return of BBNaija, the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe said,

“Big Brother Naija has been widely regarded as one of Africa’s biggest entertainment exports, being the biggest showcase of Nigeria’s diversity outside of core Nollywood. This fifth season promises to be more adventurous, exciting and entertaining, and will undoubtedly be the biggest thing on African television in 2020.”
