Sanromeo:
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has reacted to a publication by Saharareporters with the headline "Revealed: 88 'Ghost Workers' Receive N48.2m Car Loan In Ondo"

Reacting to the news via his twitter account, Governor Akeredolu said the new development is one of the many fraud his administration has dealt with in the state public sector with the ongoing public service reform.

The Governor stressed that Saharareporters had covered one of the arrests made in April on its website and he vowed that his administration will continue to sanitize the public system.

In his tweets "One of many we have dealt with. Our Civil service reform efforts, which was covered by your website in April, has been uncovering all of these criminal elements in the system. We will continue to sanitize the system. READ HERE: http://saharareporters.com/2020/04/09/ondo-government-hands-over-civil-servants-police-over-financial-theft."

In April 2020, At least 25 civil servants under the employment of the Ondo State Government were handed over to the police for allegedly stealing public funds.

The civil servants were caught involving in all forms of employment racketeering and inputting fictitious names into the state's payroll system.

Part of the reasons some of our lecturers (ASUU) are fighting tooth and nails, threatening us with strike cos of IPPIS.

For those that do not know, let us enlighten you a bit as little as we can in lay men language......

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which is the umbrella body of university lecturers in Nigeria, is threatening to down tools or embark on a strike over something called the IPPIS.

What is this IPPIS and why is it annoying the lecturers so much?
We answer your questions in the following paragraphs…

The meaning of IPPIS and how it works

IPPIS is an acronym for Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.

The IPPIS Secretariat is a department domiciled in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).

The IPPIS project, is responsible for payment of salaries and wages directly to the bank accounts of federal government employees.
There won't be any way for Ghost workers payment.....as they have been used to for many many years.

Truly, when you fight corruption, corruption fights back like a wounded lion!

There are some lecturers working in more than two universities here in Nigeria. Be rest assured that they are the pioneers of this strike and fight back. For once Presido don do something weh me like, weh deh okay and I gats commend am.

Mister. You don't sit down 'believing', you stand up to repair. Believe will never patch that leaky tyre until the vulcaniser works on it. Unfortunately we reside in a country where the status quo is protected at all costs by those who ultimately profit from its chaos. Ask them to change and they wage war against you.

You acknowledge that 'the foundation is destroyed'. This means there is a fundamental or call it basic or call it structural problem with Nigeria and any half decent engineer will tell you that once a structure has foundation problems, the last thing to do is to continue building upwards and piling on more loads wothout addressing the problem.

This is the conundrum facing Nigeria, the reason why we cannot make any meaningful progress 60 years after independence, 20 years after democracy and 5 years after the PDP. So if the problem is not an independent, multiparty democracy then it must be the structure to support theae ideals that must be faulty.

Now say after me.... 'We want our darling nation restructured'
