Obj For The Luckiest Nigerian Award by chidichris(m): 9:33am On Jun 10, 2007
am sorry i have to copy and paste here but it is worth doing so enjoy urself;

Obasanjo is the "luckiest" and the "greatest" Nigerian to be alive and ever to be. No Nigerian has been as lucky and as blessed by Nigeria more than Obasanjo has been. He is the only man in Nigeria to have been both a military and civilian president. He is the only Nigerian to taste power for more than eleven years. He is the only southerner who became president without labouring for it. Awo and Zik laboured assiduously in vain for it and Abiola was denied it when he got it, and later murdered in vain. He is the only death row prisoner in Nigeria to ever be begged to be president and who ever became a President. Obasanjo is the only civilian president to have finished his tenure without a coup and who dared even to harass Nigeria for a third term. Oh no! It should be forth term - first as a military, second as a tourist, third as a civilian dictator and forth as a haunted ghost in Aso Rock. He is really a lucky man.

He is the only man to have contested and won the presidential election while losing in his street, ward, state and region. He is the only man alive in Nigeria who could dare contest the presidential election in Nigeria in this era of money politics with only twenty thousand naira in his account and still win. He is the only man in Nigeria with the Midas touch, who could transform his twenty thousand naira savings in 1999 into billions of dollars and ownership of most blue chip companies in Nigeria in 2007, the biblical man with ten talents must be enormously envious of our dear great and beloved Obasanjo. No Nigerian Leader has got so much money as Obasanjo got during his eight year tenure as our president - yet, he is fighting Atiku and co for PTDF peas. The net revenue of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 is much more than the net revenue of Nigeria from independence to 1999. What a Lucky man! I guess Babangida's twelve billion dollars looks like peanuts when compared to this.

Obasanjo is one of the few lucky great ones who saw death with their 'korokoro' eyes in Abacha's gulag and survived it, Shehu Musa Yar'Adua and MKO Abiola never survived it. He also broke the record as the first Nigerian leader to borrow money and taught other leaders the act of borrowing and sorrowing. It was our great Obasanjo that gave us our great national anthem in 1978 that asks God to guide our leaders to wrongs and calls for the building of a Nigeria where peace and injustice will reign. Obasanjo is the author also of many electoral reforms in Nigeria especially the law where the sole presidential vote is arithmetically more than a hundred million votes of Nigerians. The practicality and effectiveness of this came out very beautifully in the 2007 general elections. Obasanjo is a great democrat and a man of dialogue. He worked so effectively with the national assembly and the opposition. He is very tolerant of differing opinions and views, the late senate president, Chuba Okadigbo and Ghali Na'aba can eloquently testify to this.

No Nigerian however is as great as Obasanjo in the great legacies that he left behind for Nigerians. I doubt if we would ever get a leader of such gigantic legacies and greatness again in Nigeria. Such leaders come once in a life time. The great legacies which Obasanjo the great left for Nigeria are so much that it would be an insult to him and the essence of greatness if I claim to exhaust it here in this essay. I really hope that one day the United Nations will set up an international tribunal to write it down for future generations to read. The great legacies of our dear great president can be seen adorning every nook and cranny of Nigeria. It can be seen in the beautiful faces and life of the Nigerian poor masses as they excavate and scavenge dust-bins for their daily bread. It can be seen in our beautiful roads and road network which is considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient World. Obasanjo's great legacies can be seen in his foreign bank accounts and that of our other great politicians and public servants. There are not many politicians in the world who have had it so good financially as our former president and his cronies. However, Obasanjo's great achievements are seen more in these great legacies he left behind after his eight years as the civilian president of Nigeria.

The first of the great legacies of Obasanjo is NEPA. I really love the old acronym NEPA than PHCN, because like most confused Nigerians, I superstitiously still believe that PHCN means Poverty Holding Company of Nigeria. NEPA's meaning of 'Never Expect Power Again' is much better that PHCN. NEPA is one of the greatest legacies of Obasanjo. It has made Nigerians appreciate the value of the invention called electricity, the joy and ecstasy that Nigerians go into when NEPA visits them with few minutes or even few seconds of electricity is unbelievable. It has taught Nigerians how to operate only in the day time; even armed robbers do not operate again at night. Everyone now sleeps well in the night. Obasanjo's government inherited in 1999 around 3000 MW of electricity, they pumped a record 10 billion dollars into electric power generation. After everything, we have now less than 3000MW being generated. This is really a great achievement from our great president. I really guess it would be unpatriotic, ungrateful and idiotic of me to ask where the money disappeared to, judging from all the great benefits that have accrued to Nigerians by not having electricity. NEPA has really helped us so much; it has made Nigeria super industrially under-developed. This is because industries do not thrive where there is erratic or no power supply. This has saved us from the pollutions that come from those industries; we have only the pollutions that come from the generating sets that adorn every business and home to contend with. It has also saved us from the evil that comes from too much wealth and riches of industrialisation, is poverty no longer a blessing again? Obasanjo's NEPA has created more jobs for Nigerians; most of our young people have found jobs as armed robbers and prostitutes. Those less fortunate to get university education are Okada riders - but not in Abuja.

The great achievement of NEPA represents symbolically also the great feat that our great president achieved in other sectors of life and infrastructures in Nigeria. It represents our education system that is one of the best in the Stone Age world. Most or almost all the times the lecturers and teachers are on strike, and when they are not on strike, the students sit on windows, stones and on each other to listen to the lectures. It represents our airlines that are the safest in the world, the safest way to go to God. NEPA is the symbol of our police force, the best police force in the world in the act of abetting crime and harassing innocent citizens. It represents the decadence and rot in our health service which has really in a beneficial way brought back our traditional medical service and native doctors that were put out of business by western medicine. This has also led to the development of great medical research institutes, clinics and pharmaceutical companies inside Onitsha main market. NEPA represents many great things in the life of Nigerians. It represents the anxiety, agony, darkness, frustration and gloom which pervaded life in Nigeria under our great Obasanjo and still pervades it after he seemed to have gone.

Another great achievement of our great Obasanjo is the Odi massacre. This is the great representation of the good and enviable human right record of Obasanjo's government and how much value that our great Obasanjo and his government put on the value of their citizens. America government would foolishly do anything to protect her citizen, while Nigeria would readily massacre her own citizens. It is a representation of the great achievements of Obasanjo to the problem of the Niger-Delta. Odi massacre is the event where an impoverished village in the oil rich Bayelsa state was pulverised and desiccated by the invading army of their country, Nigeria. On the 9th of November 1999, seven policemen were murdered by some hoodlums near Odi. The town was given the ultimatum to produce the hoodlums or be erased out of human history. What a great way to fight crime? Few days later, the whole town was cordoned off in a so called reprisal to the murder of these policemen; operation 'Hakuri II', the Nigerian version of Gulf war two, immediately began. Heavy artillery, grenade launchers, military aircraft, heavy bombs and other deadly weapons were used freely by the invading army on the unarmed villagers of Odi. It was a very great and successful military operation, by the time the operation finished, only the local First bank branch building and the Anglican Church were the only buildings standing. On the situation of human life after the military invasion, Abdul Oroh, the director of CLO, who visited Odi after the massacre said, "We saw no single livestock, poultry or domestic animal except a stray cat." The devastation was absolute and total, it was a great military success that was worthy of our great civil war hero and commander in chief. It put our great Obasanjo in great pedestal with Saddam Hussein who gassed his own people to death and the Sudanese government who commits genocide against their own people of Darfur. Odi massacre represents the blueprint of Obasanjo's solution to the problem of Niger- Delta, an area that produces a great majority of Nigerian's oil wealth but ironically wallows in an indecent poverty, penury and pollution. Odi massacre represents our great Obasanjo's great blueprint of violence and militarization as the solutions to all problems. Insurgency and counter insurgency have become the hallmark of life in the oil producing communities today. Our great man, Obasanjo, share a big portion of praise and applause for that. One of the graffiti posted and left behind in Odi by one of the ravaging Nigerian soldiers present the situation graphically, "your oil or your life." Obasanjo will be greatly remembered for transforming the situation in the Niger delta into "your oil and your life."

Another great achievement of our great president is the epochal event of Ngigegate. This is about the great event of July 9, 2004, when the sitting governor of Anambra state then, Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige was "abdu-arrested" and forced to abdicate as the governor. In the early hours of that day, a big contingent of the dreaded MOPOL with an ungodly amount of arms stormed the government house in a commando like operation. They swiftly disarmed the governor's security; they arrested the governor and drag him off by the scruff of his neck to an unknown destination where he was imprisoned and reportedly given several slaps and lashes of cane. They claimed that they were acting on order from above. 'Above' in Nigeria is not heaven but Aso Rock. The mastermind of this brave and professional operation was a young illiterate civilian called Christian Uba. He is the younger brother to Andy Uba, one of the domestic houseboys of President Obasanjo. That event was very significant for it was the first time a civilian would organise a coup. Actually, it clearly destroyed the long monopoly which the Nigerian military has on execution of coup in Nigeria. That was also the first time a coup would be organised at the state level. Eventually, that became the prelude to more civilian coups in Nigeria with Obasanjo and Adedibu being the masterminds. After Ngigegate, it became clear to state legislators that it takes only two of them in a "suya" or "roasted corn" joint to impeach a governor. Obasanjo's involvement in this saga marks one of his greatest achievements in the history of democracy in Nigeria. Obasanjo first gave legitimacy to this coup by relegating it to the level of a family affair. He then went ahead and rewarded the coup plotters heavily while punishing heavily the Governor who was the symbol of democracy in the state. This was the first time in Nigeria that failed coup plotters were rewarded. Christian Uba, the mastermind of the coup was promoted to the Garrison commander of PDP in the East, he was given a very heavy police protection and was heavily patronised financially by the Federal Government. After this, Obasanjo defined politics as a business investment which must be protected and respected by all. Obasanjo's great intervention made it very clear to all political office holders that their position should be seen and respected as people's investment and not service to the people; corruption or no corruption. Politicians as men and women of honour must respect and fulfil the agreements they signed in shrines. This led to the rise of the god fathers and garrison politics. The rise and rise of Adedibu, the garrison commander of Oyo state represents excellently the great achievement of Obasanjo in this regard.

Another great legacy of Obasanjo is his corruption war. He fought the corruption war in a very intricate scientific way that not even Einstein could understand. He immediately showed Nigerians that he was ready to fight the corruption war and that it would no longer be business as usual when he got the auditor general of the country immediately dismissed for auditing the federal government account that indicted the incorruptible presidency. After this, he gave the highest honour in the country to one of the most honest Nigerian leaders, General Babangida. He established EFCC after that to show Nigerians that he meant business in the fight against corruption. EFCC was established by an act of the National assembly. Unfortunately, Nuhu Ribadu, an honest Nigerian policeman is at the head of it. He has defiantly proved that a Nigerian policeman could be honest - at least to a certain level. Obasanjo's EFCC has really emerged as one of the greatest things to happen to Nigeria. Obasanjo's EFCC has fought the corruption war in a scientific cum digital way that would make even Einstein go green with envy. EFCC has been able to research and prove to Nigerians that it is position and name that makes someone corrupt. You cannot be corrupt if you are in the good books and the inner circle of our all honest great man, General Matthew Obasanjo. Once you are Obasanjo's enthusiasts, supporter, sycophant, houseboy, lackey, in-law and family, you can never be corrupt, corruption can never be an attribute of you, no matter what you do or how much you loot. His moral uprightness rubs on you and makes you pure. Let nobody ask me to explain how this works. You can only be corrupt if you belong to the opposition or you are a friend of Atiku - show me your friend and I will tell you who you are. The mere fact that one belongs to the opposition makes him intrinsically corrupt, no matter what the person do. EFCC was also able to prove that it is only the name that you bear that really makes you corrupt. If you bear any of these names, Uba, Gbenga, Iyabo, Olabode George, Anenih, Adedibu, Akala, Babagida and few others, you can never be corrupt or indicted for corruption. I trust Nigerians; soon people will start giving these names to their children especially the criminal ones that politics will make a fine profession for. Obasanjo's EFCC scientifically also proved that corruption is totally determined by how much you steal, if you steal little like the little thief in Zamfara state, one of your hand is readily cut off but if your cart away the treasury with third term on your mouth, it becomes dividend of democracy and you are even prepared for bigger political offices. EFCC also achieved the scientific feat of proving to Nigerians that immunity is not an obstacle to fighting corruption, hence the likes of Chinwoke Mbadinuju, after collapsing a state, are still free and have still no case to answer when they are no longer under immunity. The great Mbadinuju of Anambra was even allowed to contest election under Obasanjo's PDP and under the nose of EFCC. I guess our great ex-president would soon be awarded the Noble price for his theories of corruption. I hereby humbly beg him to make his corruption theories into a compulsory course in his university and also other Nigeria universities.

The third term episode is one of the greatest achievements of Obasanjo the great. The third term debate was all about the attempt by Obasanjo the great to cling to power and in the process transform himself into the life president of Nigeria and possibly hand over to his son Gbenga or daughter Iyabo when he dies at a very ripe old age of one hundred and fifty. However, this attempt was successfully shot down by a lot of unpatriotic Nigerians after all the massive money, energy and time that were invested on the project by Obasanjo and his houseboys. The third term remains one of the greatest legacies that Obasanjo gave to Nigeria. He was able to show Nigeria how weak our democracy is, how it is centred on one man. An individual once described democracy in Nigeria as a Babacracy and not a democracy. I hope the individual is talking about government of Baba, by Baba and for Baba and not insinuating that Baba is crazy. Obasanjo has by his failed attempt on tenure elongation informed the new President, that tenure elongation or life presidency is always possible but you just have to start early, you cannot waste your first term touring round the world. Nigeria was the only loser in the third term episode; they lost the advantage of continuity and experience which leaders like Mobuto, kamuzu Banda and Mugabe gave to their countries by their sit-tightism. Nigeria lost a lot by rejecting the third term, they said no to democracy and government as defined by Obasanjoism, they said no to pot-holes as roads, mortuary as hospital, primary schools as universities, power failure as NEPA. They said no to fuel shortage and constant increase of fuel and kerosene price. They said no to hunger and suffering. The only source of redemption in the whole situation is that the great Obasanjo have not really gone. He is no longer the president but he is still in power, his ghost still hovers around Aso rock, restless and refusing to rest. He has managed to rig into power all his family, houseboys, lackeys and stooges. He installed even the wife and children of his friends and lackeys in power. I really think that he has finally achieved the third and even the fourth term as the ghost that forgot something in Aso rock.

Another great achievement of Obasanjo is Transcorp. Transcorp represents the economic achievement of Obasanjo during this his eight year tenure. It represents all his economic dealings and their benefits to Nigeria. This is the first time in history that a company of such magnitude as Transcorp will be created in Nigeria. Transcorp represents also the economic reforms of Obasanjo that is meant to impoverish the poor and enrich the rich. Otedola, Ovie and Dangote can readily explain this to us. Transcorp is totally owned by Obasanjo and his friends or fronts, depending on the angle that you look at it. It is Obasanjo's avenue of rewarding himself for all the sacrifices he has made for Nigeria. It is really a reward well deserved. The last few days of Obasanjo have totally revealed that Transcorp is the nation's parting gift of herself to Obasanjo for his great stewardship as he goes back to his animals in his farm where he really belongs. In a last minute and hurried privatisations that is un-questionable, Transcorp has managed to buy up the collective patrimony of Nigeria. It has bought Nigeria economically, Nigeria is totally owned now economically by few persons - no apologies even to Atiku. Soon, there may be a change of name for Nigeria; I guess the name Nigeria may be soon changed to Dangoteria or Transcorpia. Soon we may have to pay for the air we breath. Obasanjo has sold to himself and his fronts, the best of what we have as a nation. He has sold the economic soup of Nigeria to himself. NITEL, NICON, NNPC, Cement industries, steel mill, oil wells and many other national patrimonies were dashed by a grateful nation to Transcorp or Obasanjo. Obasanjo really deserved more than these, he has given all his life to Nigeria and he even generously gave us a parting gift of fifteen percent hike in petroleum, the sixth increase he is making since his 1999. In further demonstration of his love for Nigerians, he has also increased VAT taxation to ten percent. All these would help cushion the effect of the unwholesome last minute looting spree of the treasury by him and his boys. This will take care of the over one trillion naira last minute contracts that were awarded within the last fifteen days of his glorious reign. Some of the recently approved contracts have already being commissioned just few days after they were awarded. Nigerians would ever be so grateful and happy for these last minute contracts because of the way they are going to touch the lives of every Nigerian especially the poor. Among the last minute contracts awarded that will be of great benefit to Nigerians are: 21.4 billion naira for capacity building in the foreign affair ministry, (please, who understands what this means?), 2.3 billion for gifted and specially challenged children, 480 million to buy 60 Peugeot cars for presidential inauguration and 40 million to buy new uniform for 150 police officers at the price of 266.666 naira each. Wow! Police uniforms cost more than designers now.

The greatest of all the great legacies and heritage of Obasanjo is the election 2007. It is the murder of all elections, no, I mean mother of all elections. It is the greatest of all the elections that have been conducted since democracy began in the world - all the observers, both local and international testified to that. The rigging was excellent and beyond the conventional rigging. Election 2007 is Obasanjo at his vintage; it is the symbol of everything that Obasanjo represents from his religiousness to his transparency. The election umpire, Professor Maurice Iwu, a professor of Ebola Virus, is a study in honesty, patriotism and fairness. He was hired by Obasanjo to fix the election and he over fixed it. 2007 election was the fairest and freest Nigerian election, for Nigerians exercised their freedom by hiding at their homes courtesy of the Nigeria police and an army armed to the teeth as if they were going to war. Anyway, you cannot blame them, for our great Obasanjo already declared it as "a do or die election." The army and police were ever ready to make political martyr of anybody that dared demand his electoral rights. The foolish ones that ignored the new electoral reforms and dared come out to vote, hundreds of them lost their lives. Results and figures were awarded with no voting materials at voting stations. Votes were awarded in direct proportion to the closeness and relationship of candidates to Obasanjo, the father of our democracy. Those that are very close to Obasanjo like his former houseboy, his Excellency, Dr. Andy Uba got votes that were more than the registered voters in Anambra state. It was an election every Nigerian of all generations would be proud of; it was an election that totally defined Obasanjo's heritage and legacies to Nigeria. It was an election that made Obasanjo great and gave him a well deserved place in history with such other African greats like Idi Amin, Mobutu, Kamuzu Banda, Abacha, Samuel Doe and Mugabe.

This is really interesting i cant help myself from smiling. these speaks the mind of all Nigerian and i just kept wondering where we are heading to, so very sad.

If a whole leader of a country can say the election is a do or die affairs its really tell how much the president cares about the citizens.

The EFCC is used for detecting people who are not in support of the so-called president they wont go after his favorite people except people who obasanjo want out of the system,

What a great election indeed,
