Just heard on this morning on comfort 95.1 fm that each state of the federation is to receive about 1.5bn dollars each from the world bank as measures to cushion the effect of covid-19 on the economy. By my calculation this money is almost 500bn in naira equivalence for each state. This is aside from the normal statutory allocations from the FG. Please lets hold our government accountable because this single donations to each states is beyon the annual budgets of individual states in the federation. We must be watchful over the affairs of our leaders if we truly need to furge ahead.

$1.5billion to 36 states is $54billion. Go back and confirm your story very well. World bank cannot dash or loan Nigeria $54billion at a go. The story is a phantom without 24 grin grin grin

Op , you are one of the Educated Illiterates we have in this Country. When you receive information, cant you just make a little googling to confirm or debunk , but alas , you rushed to post it ...it then becomes a news piece to misinform the gullibles .

Can you just reason with figure by asking simple questions?

To even worsen the situation , you tag it as donation

thanks for the insult but you don't sound like a sane person rather.have you verified the news from the channel i gave you cos that station is highly reputable. The issue of Whether the money is a loan or grant doesn't make it make the news incedible.

You see, what am saying. What qualifies a station to be HIGHLY REPUTABLE, that stops you from making your own sound JUDGEMENT?
What is it the Station that told you to make conclusions you made in your original post(OP).

Are you conversant that the whole Federal Govt just took a loan $3.5 billion dollars?

Are you not also conversant with the news of Minister of Finance yesterday of $1.5 billion to all the 36 states and not each ?

What does it cost you to search for the news on Nairaland or Google?

Na wa for you. 1.5b ko, 2.3 trillion ni.

Just for the record, Pls it's 100m NAIRA to each state, NOT DOLLARS OOO. The entire money for the country is just abt $100m.

Furthermore, the money is not going to the state account. Strict measures have been put in place for the disbursement. . . I can't say more than that.

Pls let's be sure of info we pass across.

Why insulting him? He heard a news on radio and clearly stated it.

By the way, he is not far from the truth but I think it is a $1.5 Billion package for the States to share. I hope it is put to good use.

The World Bank has got a proposal of 1.5 billion dollars to states as part of economic stimulus to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, says Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed.

“The World Bank planned a proposed package for immediate fiscal relief for the FG.

“This will also involve policy-based policy budget support for the Federal Government, focusing on measures to maintain macro financial stability and create fiscal space for proposed stimulus.

“The World Bank package has also got a proposal of 1.5billion dollars for the states and this package will be dedicated to the states and it will be a programme for results which the states are already used to implementing.’’
