<<<<<HIDDEN SECRET>>>>> <<<<<WRITTEN BY GIRAH KARISPEN>>>>> *****EPISODE ONE***** Gone are the days when graduates in Bayelsa, before finishing their educational career, would have secure a stand-by job waiting for them. But nowadays, things have changed, should we say it is caused as a result of breakdown in the economical sector or the rate at which the number of students are graduating each year....This also affect a young graduate called........ *Karis*,a handsome and good-looking guy who is averagely-tall and at his *late 20s* in age,he emerges from a family of 5,his Dad,mum, himself and his two sisters. He has also graduated for the past two years as a English and Literature student from the University of NDU and his way of living has been nothing but *a hand to mouth* lifestyle "Maybe i will go to Benin to meet my friend *Ehis* who is a fashion designer (although I know a little about him) and from there I can raise up a little fund to be on my own"Karis thought about this one day after working as a *Load-Carrier* at a popular waterside locally known as FMC waterside *(Chai!!! the life of a Man,it's just full of struggle)* On that same day he sat down his parent to have a discussion with them. "Mama,Papa, seems like I will be going to Benin by next week,I need to secure a job"Karis said as he was sitting on their roughly three-seater chair in their parlour which is now food for the bed-bugs "Ahah My son, when have you been thinking about this"His dad interrupted "papa, you are the one talking like this, don't you know how hard I have tried to get a job but all my effort proved abortive, do you now expect me to continue to live here with you under the same roof and you will still be the one feeding me always"Karis said as he began weeping "Don't cry my son,all will be well, his mother said as she too was wiping the tears in her eyes with the edge of her cloth. His father tried to lift his eyes up in the air to prevent him from weeping also 'Son,where are you going to stay in Benin before securing an apartment of your own'His father asked him hopelessly "I will find my way out Papa, when I get there I will call you sir, just pray for me so that I can see a good job to be able to take good care of you,mum and my siblings"he said as he continue weeping. "Don't worry ,all will be well"His younger sister consoled him ************************************* ******* The next Morning,Karis woke up as early as 6am so that he can be able to catch up the first bus,he quickly took his bath, pack his luggage and within a twinkle of an eye,he is already set for the journey. "Mama,Papa I am set sir"He said as he was waking them up with his voice "Karis, you are through,so quick?"His father who love to call him Karina by that name said as he was trying to get up from the bed "Yes papa,I need to catch the first bus as soon as possible"He replied "My son, kneel down let me pray for you"His mother said as she was trying to show the sign to him "Okay Mama" **He kneels** "I pray GOD almighty makes you great at Benin" "Amen"Karis and his father chorused "You will be succesfull, and by now you are going with nothing, but when you will be returning back, *GOD ALMIGHTY* will bless you like Jacob" "Amen"Karis replied **but what could my mum mean by *GOD* will bless me like Jacob**He continued to wonder After finishing the prayer he was seen off by his parent until he book a bus and off he went..... ************************************* ******* Karis got to Benin by 9pm in the evening, the street was dark but he managed to see through, after a couple of minutes he called Ehis that he is at his street "Guy abeg i dey your street come pick me"He said this on phone while entering the street "Ahah you don't mean it"Ehis said in an unbelievable manner "I do friend" After some minutes of searching Ehis jammed Karis and they both cuddled each other as they were entering his house "Karis, you did not tell me that you were coming down to Benin,it a sudden movement, what led you out of your state"Ehis was asking many questions repeatedly "Ehis please will you leave all this your story and give me food"Karis said helplessly as he was so tired While he was eating,Ehis prepared another bed sheet for him so that he can sleep after eating "So now tell me,what brought you down to Benin?"Ehis asked impatiently waiting for an answer " friend, where can I sleep"Karis asked without giving concern to what Ehis was asking him "Talk now, Karis" "Ehis it's a long story, when we wake up tomorrow morning I will narrate everything to you......To be continue. |
