We Spent N2.9 Billion To Feed People During Ramadan - Zamfara Governor by Faithdamy(m): 5:11pm On May 23, 2020
The governor of Zamfara State Bello Matawalle, has revealed that his government spent N2.9 billion for Ramadan feeding as the fasting comes to an end.

The governor made this known in a state broadcast to celebrate this year’s Eid-Fitr on Saturday, stating that the sum of N55.2 million was earmarked to procure 280 cows which were distributed to civil servants, groups and communities to mark this year’s Eid-Fitr celebration.

He said;

We have equally distributed a consignment of guinea brocade and textiles fabrics to 40,000 orphans across the state to enable them have new dresses for the Sallah celebration.

I instructed the Ministry of Finance to ensure that salaries are paid from 18th of May to enable the civil servants prepare for the occasion.

From the reports I received, most of the civil servants had received their salaries by the 20th of May.

I urge you to adhere to the safety measures prescribed by the National Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) such as wearing of face masks, avoiding crowded places and ensuring social distancing in all unions and congregations throughout this festivity and beyond.

We will continue to intensify measures aimed at ensuring your safety and controlling further spread of the coronavirus in the state. Only last Tuesday, I launched sample collection booths at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau.

Lol.

Look at the money frittered away on frivolities. This is one of the things about Nigeria that perplexes me. Constitutionally we're a secular nation, yet officially the government still wastes billions of naira yearly sponsoring religious activities.

It's good to feed people during Ramadan but close to N3billion is too much for a state that can not conveniently generate N500million in IGR. Religion is what put Africans in this sorry condition after all

Fear Allah now. Almost #3Billion just like that!
To even think these guys just finished fasting o.

I personally don't subscribe to the idea of giving people fish at all times. Why not empower them to be able to feed themselves and their relatives so that the government will have lesser people to take care of next year.

That's very nice of the governor. But please tell the people you are feeding with billions to stay in your state and stop sneaking to the South. If we see any of your miscreant citizen in the South, such an idiot or group of idiots will be sacrificed to the gods of Ogun, Sango, Obatala and Esu Odara before Amadioha uses the carcass for feed its children
