One hard truth is people confuse pride to mean high self esteem, especially the cholerics. They'll tell you they're principled, they don't take rubbish blabla. But if you look well, they're easily irritated, they have low tolerance (what they mean by they don't take nonsense), low patience, anger, rigid etc. But they'll label it good terms... That they are action oriented and unapologetic.. funny. When the Bible terms meekness as a fruit of the spirit. The bible says the sacrifices of the Lord that God will not despise are a broken spirit and a contrite heart.

The society also terms humility or a broken spirit as having low self esteem. A person who let's quarrelsome issues pass by is termed a fool. A person who forgives is termed a mugu and so on

My point is this. Self esteem has its place, but God's standard for humility supercedes personality qualities and societal norm for brokenness, humility and meekness. A person whose flesh is subdued will be patient and tolerant and be willing to forgive

Oluromantic, the Choleric Temperament has various blends, which include; Choleric-Sanguine (Chol-San), Choleric-Melancholy (Chol-Mel) & Choleric-Phlegmatic (Chol-Phleg). Out of them all, the Chol-Mel is still the most difficult to relate with, you may not be able to live with an individual that has that type of temperament.

Even the Melancholy Temperament can be quite difficult to relate with, especially the Melancholy-Choleric (Mel-Chol) Temperament Blend; they demand perfection in everything & may NOT forgive you IF you offend them.
My point is you shouldn't generalize the Choleric Temperament as being haughty.

Au revoir!

What you're explaining to me is what I know so well. It however doesn't change the fact that a chol-mel is a chol and a chol is proud and doesn't know it

That 's quite a list there...wow!
This hits all of us.
As the poster said above, this particular sin is the one that we don't want to address, yet is arguably the most dangerous.
If it got Lucifer dismissed from the Kingdom permanently, how much more seriously should we be asking the Holy Spirit to show us our true hearts and cleanse us from that sin that so easily stalls us...and separates us from enjoying the fulness of God.
That "pride" issue is doubly dangerous because most cultures heavily promote it (in many forms)...
It seems like a "rite of passage" for Nigerians from birth.
Don't think I've known of a more proud group of people on the planet...
It is almost seems as if it is a thing of shame NOT to be a continual walking billboard of pride.
However, one's faith in Christ, should trump culture..in fact it must.
If one professes Christ, then that pride has to go & be replaced with humility.
Our need for the Holy Spirit to cultivate the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives, is so crucial.
Pride can develop in anything (including spiritual situations such as scriptural interpretations, spiritual ggifts, ministry callings, denominational feelings of superiority etc., which means we must daily surrender to the Lord.
