When President Mohamadu Buhari was viling for election in 2015 he promised the teaming unemployed Nigerian youths that he will create 1 million Jobs for them yearly, 6 years down the line the current administration was able to employ 500,000 youths that were paid N30,000 Naira monthly. Most of them, about 70% were graduates and were posted to the state public primary and secondary schools across the 774 local government areas in Nigeria. Some were posted to man the health sector and others were posted at the various state ministries of agriculture to educate the farmer on how to make more profit by planting correctly.
After four years, the President Mohamadu Buhari led administration is planning to either lay off or restructure them and bring in new beneficiaries, in the Minister's words "The current batch A is blocking the new set from coming onboard." Meaning that, there time has relapsed as they have stayed 40 months as against the 24 months earlier agreed upon before they resumed.
My take on this is that, if the government does that, then there is no difference between Npower program and NYSC. In NYSC the graduates stay employed by the government for 12 months. Meaning that the President Mohamadu Buhari's administration has not really contributed something new in Nigeria unemployment sphere. Thus may have no legacy that is unique to its name, after they are gone.
The government should find a way to engage these youths permanently ,doing that will write his name on the sands of time.

They have already stated it that it is not a permanent job, is a 2 years programme just to empower youth. The wise ones are already doing something tangible with their N power monthly salary
