Pastor Enoch Adeboye biography, net worth and family


Enoch Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Although he was not the founder of the church set placed in 1952, he has been an active contributor to its massive growth. Presently, the church has parishes in about 186 countries of the world.

Enoch Adejare Adeboye is a name that almost every Nigerian know. He is a peaceful, easy going and soft-hearted Nigerian pastor. As a matter of fact, he is listed as one of the most influential and highly honoured people in the world.



Pastor Enoch Adeboye Biography


Enoch Adeboye was given birth to on 2nd March 1942 in the town of Ifewara, Osun State, Nigeria. His parents were very poor and he was part of their four children. Adeboye’s father was a peasant farmer, who did not trust in educating any of his children. In fact, the family was living in abstract poverty that they could not get to pay the school dues anyway.

But Enoch was so inspired about receiving a sound education and when his requests to be sent to school were disregarded by his father, he went on a hunger-strike in a bid to change his mind. His father finally gave in and marketed a goat in order to pay for his son’s school dues. Thus Enoch Adeboye was admitted at the only missionary school in their village.

After his primary school education, young Enoch was enrolled into Ilesha Grammar School, Ilesha, Osun State, Nigeria in 1956, where he found out his passion for science and mathematics.

Enoch Adeboye seriously wanted to pursue a higher education but the ongoing Nigerian Civil War and his family’s dire financial state posed a threat to crush his ambitions. Yet he chased his dream without giving up and ultimately gotten not only a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Nigeria, but also a Masters Degree in Hydrodynamics and a Doctorate Degree in Applied Mathematics, both from the University of Lagos, in 1969 and 1975 respectively.

As a youthful man, Pastor Adeboye had one great dream which is to become the youngest Vice-Chancellor of any one of the famous Universities in Nigeria. So he started his career as a lecturer in mathematics at the Universities of Lagos and Ilorin and looked strong to establish himself in a successful work in academics.

Already married by the early 1970s, Pastor Adeboye and his wife had some challenges having children. The wife had two children through cesarean section and the doctors had warned them against having more. But the couple seriously wanted more children and thus began on a spiritual journey to find an answer.
