Why Is Drugged Driving Dangerous? by levysh09: 4:19pm On May 24, 2020 |
I have learned from AddictionResource that drugged driving is a common term for driving under the influence of both legal and illegal substances. It’s equally dangerous as driving and drinking alcohol. In both cases, everybody in the vehicle, as well as people on the road, are in danger. During 2017, 12.8 million people drove cars after using illicit drugs. Depending on the substance, drugs can slow the reaction time or prevent accurate distance estimation, trigger reckless and aggressive behavior, and cause drowsiness and dizziness. People who use drugs should develop strategies to prevent themselves from driving, while health experts should intensify efforts and organize lectures for teens and adolescents, and talk more about the risk of intoxicated driving and substance abuse in general. |
