What is Air Freight?
This is simply the carriage of goods and cargo by aircraft.
Why Air Freight?

Air Freight is regarded as the fastest shipping method. For time sensitive goods (such as fresh, perishable goods) or situations that require goods to be moved quickly, this is an ideal option.

Unlike sea/ocean freight, less packaging is required and the need for warehousing goods is reduced. Therefore, saving money on extra packaging and warehousing expenses.

Another major difference between these two freight methods is the low volume shipments which characterize air freight; large bulks cannot be shipped at a time.

How it Works
The Air cargo process begins with a shipper, the individual or company who is physically or administratively responsible for the shipment of goods.

Typically, the shipper is also the customer of the forwarder, the consignee or the third party who has ordered goods from the shipper.

This is the role that http://www.freightng.com/… will mostly assume during the shipping process.

Shippers are also in charge of efficient assembly of shipments in terms of the volume, weight and packaging of goods. This is in order to avoid damages to goods and even the aircraft and to achieve the best price possible.

Once all requirements are met and the appropriate documents are provided, a pickup will be organized by either the forwarder or shipper. Shipments will be delivered to the forwarder's warehouse who further organizes the air freight process.

The shipments are then received by the airline's handling agent, this agent could either be an in-house function of the airline, or a separate company contracted by the airline. Whatever the case, the agent is charged with handling all activities at the airport; to and from the aircraft.

Once the deliverables have arrived at the destination, the receiving forwarder proceeds to prepare import documents (if necessary) and handle customs clearance activities. After which, the goods are retrieved by the handling agent and delivered to the warehouse before they are taken to the consignee who accepts the goods at final delivery.
