Governor Okowa identifies infrastructural transformation as cure to hostilities in coastal communities.

The provision of basic amenities like roads, bridges and other infrastructures brought to an end incessant hostilities in the riverine Communities of the State.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa disclosed this while speaking on a Live TVC Programme, Your Views via Skype.

The Governor said he came into office when the Nation witnessed recession in 2015, coupled with security challenges in the oil bearing Communities but braved the odd by embarking on projects with direct bearing on the lives of the people.

He said that the Committee headed by the State Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro brokered peace that brought the attack on national assets like oil pipelines, to a halt.

The Governor said what the riverine Communities lacked in time time past was infrastructural development, stressing that his administration took the bull by the horn by embarking on projects like bridges, roads, schools, health centers amongst others with direct bearing on the lives of the people.

He added that more would be done within the limit of funds that accrues to the State for development.

on the proposed Operation Delta Hawk, he said it was to address the problems of farmers/herders clashes, kidnapping, armed robbery and other security challenges in the State.

He said a lot had been done by his administration to engender peace, human capital development, while emphasizing that many youths have been trained and empowered in different fields to set up their businesses in line with his Wealth Creation Agenda.

On the health policy of his administrative, Governor Okowa said that over seven hundred thousand persons have been enrolled into the Contributory Health Scheme, just as he said that the target is three million enrollees.

On efforts put in place to contain Covid-19, he said four Holding and Isolation Centres with state of the art facilities have been put in place to manage and treat patients.

He explained that the Test Laboratory recently established in Asaba for Covid19 cases has enhanced fast receipt of test results of suspected cases just as he said no effort was being left our in contact tracing and testing.

On the effect of Covid-19 on the state's economy, the Governor said a lot of measures were on ground, starting with readjustment of the budget to meet the present day reality.

He said caution was being applied in fund-drive especially through the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR as oil companies and other firms operating in the State were not being over tasked to enable them remain in business considering the effect of Covid-19 on the global economy.

To keep the small and medium scale businesses on track, the Governor said his administration has supported the informal sector with funds.

Governor Okowa said fourty percent was a!ways set aside for women in his administration's empowerment programs, in addition to various offices established to address issues bordering on their well being.

He said he was an advocate of restructuring of the country as it would greatly enhance the unity and equitable development of the nation.

On the Executive Order of Mr. President on the autonomy of the Judiciary and Legislature, Governor Okowa lauded it, stressing that it has long been passed into law in Delta.

While congratulating Muslim faithful on the succesful completion of the one month Ramadan fast, Governor Okowa called on them to use the Eid-El. Fitri to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
