The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed it is investigating alleged cases of fraud in the management of COVID-19 funds.

ICPC’s Director of Operations, Akeem Lawal, stated this during a virtual meeting the agency held with stakeholders on Thursday.

The theme was “COVID-19 Funds Management and Monitoring: Preventing Slide into Old Habits.”

Lawal disclosed that some of the cases involved some government institutions in charge of the release and distribution of grains from the reserve.

According to him, there is also a case where emergency funds were diverted into a private bank account.

“In all cases of infraction, culprits will be investigated and prosecuted.

ICPC chairman, Bolaji Owasanoye, had earlier said the commission has set up a committee to monitor use of COVID-19 funds “because this period could trigger a high level of corruption,” Lawal said.

Lemao...This country. The funny part is when the money is diverted, if there are igbos, yorubas & hausas in positions where the money passes through, they will all unite to loot...Tribalism & ethnicity will be flung out the window.

While nairaland tribalists will be blaming each other and calling each other afonja, Ipob etc

Clowns!!

Stealing is NOW corruption in our nation.

No more business as usual.

A new Sheriff is in town.

God bless our darling Daddy President Muhammadu Buhari and his amiable Vice president Prof Yemi Osinbajo as they take our once battered and looted nation to a land flowing with milk and honey.

May every politican that dipped their hands into our national treasury to steal never end well in life, no matter the party they belong to.
And if you are anywhere on social media or you have ever collected money from these corrupt bastards that looted your future and those of your unborn kids to sing their praise, watch out, cos what will befall them will come knocking at your doorsteps.

No be curse,
Na FACT!

Nigerians will be great again in our lifetime.

God bless Nigeria.

If it's the poor now, they would have detained by the police before launching an investigation

even if they are not detained, an immediate refund would have been good news to the ears

This shows that as usual, this matter will die a natural death

All these government keep doing is talking and talking.

A serious government would have started and made a scape goat of Kano!!! undecided

SMH for this jobless regime undecided

I was forced to register on this forum because of the kind of news I see every time and the way many people comment about it. I am sorry to say that Nigeria is already dead and I only pity for those who do see any reason to leave the country or those who are unable to leave the country. With the way things are now, the country is gone and just hanging on because of those who are benefiting from the loot especially in the security sector. The worse is yet to come because the APC that millions voted for will never give up that power and this dying Nigeria will continue for years to come till it finally scatters. It is really a pity I had to buy my way to become a nationality of another country because all hope in Nigeria is lost. Think of everything happening, the government is still borrowing, collecting Abacha loot, seizing properties and monies from so call corrupt people but yet those monies are no where to be found and the FG is still borrowing without any single improvement in the country.

WAKE UP NIGERIANS AND DO THE NEEDFUL BEFORE YOU ALL ARE KILLED AND THE COUNTRY IS SOLD OFF BACK TO COLONIAL MASTERS.
