President Akinwumi Adesina will herein be referred to as AA

Facts Check:

1. Private investigation doesn’t necessarily lead to conviction
2. AfDB is a public organization, has different countries as shareholders. What does this mean, each country has its voting power proportional to the size of its shares.
3. The USA is the second largest country by voting power. What does this mean? They have the right to challenge whatever they feel is unbalanced.

1. Democratic perspective

It’s high time we woke up as Africans, it’s high time we left the race/tribe play cards behind us. How is it a must we have a Nigerian at the helm of AfFB affairs as long as our rights are never denied? I think it doesn’t matter if the president is Kenyan or Ghanian so far the skin carries melanin.

Democracy is the reason why the world has attained this amount of sanity hitherto. As a country man, my opinion is AA should submit himself to every type of investigative process brought up by member countries. If my brother AA is innocent, the number of times he is been investigated doesn’t matter, No it doesn’t.

HE. OBJ’s position

I quote

“Unfortunately, the US government, through the US treasury secretary, has written a public letter (that was also distributed to the press globally) to disagree with the conclusions of the ethics committee of the board of directors and the chairman of the board of governors of the bank.
Instead of accepting the exoneration of the president of the bank, they called for an independent investigation.

2. A popular adage says:
He who eats and leaves crumbs on the floor should anticipate the visit of the ants.

If the country with the second largest voting power is a non-African country, no eyebrow should be raised when they speak up; it is their RIGHT!

They are not calling for AA’s head, they are asking for investigation. If you have an eye for public office, you should always be ready for criticism as such. This, all our African leaders should know.

Most Nigerians in power are guilty of nepotism, they think it's normal
but don't know it's wrong.
Let him submit to the probe, Nigeria stands nothing to gain if AFDB bank president is a Nigerian or a Chinese or whatever.

3. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!

I believe once the independent investigation is carried out and AA is exonerated as always, this will make him more popular and increase his political value.

Let our dear AA raise his shoulder high and present himself for independent investigation.
