The British Government on Friday evacuated an additional 307 of its nationals from Nigeria as a result of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

The evacuees departed from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) to London Heathrow aboard Virgin Atlantic Chartered flight.

The aircraft with the registration number: G-VPOP pushed back from the airport at 16:10hrs from the Echo 16 wing and was airborne at 16:26hrs to London.

The British Government had last week said that it would evacuate about 1,700 of its nationals from May 29, 2020 to June 6, 2020.

The nationals would be evacuated from Lagos (twice) and Abuja (once).

This is the second batch of the evacuation exercise by the British Government.

In its first batch exercise, the government evacuated about 1,700 of its citizens from Nigeria from Lagos and Abuja airports.
