From the Premier League to the Bundesliga and French Ligue 1, the business of the top 5 best right-backs in a niche one indeed.

Across the different leagues, we’ve been entertained by some of the best in the industry. Whether it’s the more modern style of attacking down the flanks or a conservative way of defending, no two are alike.

So, we’ve taken a look at the best right-backs for you to peruse, including the latest statistics, information, and predictions for the seasons ahead.

And while we’ve got you here, why not take a look at

the best left-backs in 2020

1. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Right-backs aren’t supposed to be this important to reigning European champions and Premier League leaders. Yet so much of what makes Liverpool such a force is the displays of their talismanic Scouse defender.

Alexander-Arnold is only 21-years-old, but is already one of Europe’s most consistently excellent performers. His 12 league assists this campaign are bettered only by City's creator-in-chief Kevin De Bruyne, while his vision and passing range aren’t far behind the gifted Belgian either.

There’s almost a cockiness to Alexander-Arnold’s play; 60-yard passes are regularly pinged, with laser beam precision, from his supposedly weaker left foot. This confidence was in full display in last season’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, when his cheeky corner took everyone except Divock Origi by surprise. It was a moment of genius, and a goal which will go down as an all-time great Champions League moment.

Murmurings of a move into midfield, a la Kimmich, won’t die down anytime soon, with fans keen to see him get on the ball as much as possible, but as things stand Liverpool have an incredible weapon from wide.

There’s a great deal of talk about England’s enviable youth pool, with players such as Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden expected to light up major tournaments in years to come, Trent might just be the best of the lot.

2. Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)

Kimmich’s idols growing up were Zinedine Zidane, Bastian Schweinsteiger and… Tomas Rosicky.

Alright, he doesn’t always play on the right side of defence, often being deployed in a holding midfield role instead. But it’s at right-back that Joshua Kimmich made his name, and it’s at right-back that he often still plays. So, how to describe him? Well, first there’s his aggression. This is evident in his style of play, but also in the way he screams orders at his teammates and reprimands them when they make mistakes. But he also possesses fantastic technical qualities – there are few better crossers in world football right now, to give one example.

Having spent much of his youth career at VfB Stuttgart, he moved to RB Leipzig at the age of 18. After two highly successful seasons in their first team, Pep Guardiola and Bayern Munich swooped for the defender in 2015. Kimmich recalls how Guardiola travelled to Leipzig himself to convince him to join the Bavarians, praising his qualities and telling him ‘I want you on this team’.

It was at Bayern that he made the move from centre-back to right-back, and has since won a host of domestic titles. He made his international debut at Euro 2016 and has already amassed 48 caps for Germany despite being only 24. The sky’s the limit for this man, who has been the perfect replacement for Philip Lahm at both club and international level. Indeed, there are a number of parallels between the two, not least that both are capable of playing in defensive midfield as well as right-back. 3. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United)

After spending two seasons with the Crystal Palace first team, Manchester United were seemingly so convinced by

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 's abilities that they sanctioned his purchase for a sum of £50 million.

The 22-year-old has been earmarked as a future superstar and fans of the Red Devils will hope he can nail down a permanent spot in the right-back role for the foreseeable future, with the club having not had a specialist in that position since the departure of Gary Neville almost a decade ago.

The former Eagles defender has been criticized for his lack of output going forward, with his delivery and end-product leaving a lot to be desired, thereby contributing to the lack of bite in United's attack.

However, for what Wan-Bissaka lacks in creativity, he more than makes up in defensive solidity and he also currently ranks as one of the best tacklers in the world.

4. Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
