Covid 19: Group Distributes Palliatives In Ekiti Community, Says We Feel The Pai by Adesinaayo: 11:14am On Jun 01, 2020
In its effort to alleviate the challenges that the people are facing at this critical period of Coronavirus pandemic, an Ekiti based socioeconomic group, the Pacers, had taken it upon itself to assist the people with some palliative materials. This was in distribution of cash and gift items to over one hundred people in Ikoro-Ekiti, Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Speaking on the purpose of the gesture, the Gov'nor of the organisation, Alexander Oke said one of the main focus of the group is to aid the socioeconomic development of the people and this is what they have been doing for over 18 years of its establishment.

According to him, "as a group which has over the years been committed to the betterment of the people, we feel the pains they are experiencing at this particular period, and there is nothing we could do other than giving out to them, out of the little resources that God has benevolently put in our custody. Some of our people are peasant farmers, small business owners and low income earners who are highly affected by the low level or non existent of economic activities as the result of the restriction in movement to curtain the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic, so we believe we should do whatever we can do now, to assist the people, no matter how small."
Meanwhile, in appreciating the efforts of the Pacers, the paramount traditional ruler of the community, Olukoro of Ikoro-Ekiti, Oba (Dr.) Adebanji Adeleye said the group has proved once again that they are very passionate about the wellbeing of the people. He stated, "this is a commendable effort by the Pacers, though, am not surprised because it has been their trademark, only thing I can say is that God should continue to uphold and strengthen them.'
The Pacers which has "laying the legacy" as its watchword is made up of about 16 professionals from diverse walks of life; the group was in Ikoro-Ekiti where they gave out N2,500 cash to over 100 people and made provisions of hundreds of face masks and bottles of hand sanitizer to hundreds of residents.
