Please i need a sincere constructive advise. i have my OND in accountancy and a BSC in estate management,and currently undergoing oracle 11g course. This January i would like to register for a Professional Accounting Certification ACCA or ICAN, because i have always been interested in accounting. My questions are:

- Which of them should i go for?
- What career can i build from a combination of Oracle 11G and ACCA/ICAN?
- When does the registration for any of these commence and how do i easily go about it?
- Please if you have the experience in these fields could you give an insight of how i can actually cope with work?

Interesting combination.
If you truly like accounting and IT, you might want to become what is referred to in the UK as a 'systems accountant'.
That is, an accountant that is skilled with accounting software packages, not as a mere end user, but more like a software engineer, specializing solely in accounting systems.

You can literally set up the 'books' on the system for accounting departments in MNCs and other large organizations. Define and implement the chart of accounts, create automated workflows and reports, provide front end support, training, and customize procedures, to support the operational accountants, i.e. the accountants within the organization. That's just a few of the things you will be doing.

SAP, Oracle Financials, Sage, are some of the major accounting system vendors in the enterprise. SAP and Oracle are very high-end.

I would advise you go for ACCA which you can use to get the ICAN qualification automatically. With your Oracle 11g training, you can specialise in Systems Audit and that involves writing exams like CISA. u cant register for ACCA june exam,is already late but u can do december.the deadline for december exam is aug 15.my dear,never compare ACCA with ICAN .ACCA is far better.best of luck

Nigerians dont value their own thing, we can make ICAN to be better.
Its gud to combine d two together, start from ICAN then proceed to ACCA.

ICAN is a more tougher exam to write than the
ACCA. Cheaper than ACCA.
ACCA gives you a better recognition globally.
With your ACCA you're surely going to get an ACA
certificate without stress.
With ICAN you'll get the ACCA cetification
after completing the professional exam.
To sum up, if you have the cash, kindly go for ACCA.
