Official autopsy report revealed that George Floyd died of Asphyxation.

Two autopsies of Floyd were conducted; both ruled that Floyd's death was a homicide. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner concluded that Floyd died from a cardiac arrest while being restrained with "neck compression".

An independent autopsy commissioned by Floyd's family found that Floyd's death was "caused by asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain".
