Kekereekun123: You get am. Nigerian investors are bunch of scammers. They collect loans for businesses but divert it into luxury spending, buying cars , houses and travelling around the world. At the end of the day, the business crashes and they look for a dubious way of not paying back the loan. They claim to have all the masters degree and foreign certificates but shingbain nor dey their head. |

South Africa is rated as one of Africa's five star with the strongest and highly competitive marketing base. They are rich and skilled in it, reason they target Nigeria where it holds the largest market value due to population and high demands with very poor marketing system and lack of transparent management. MTN, Protea, Multichoice DSTV, Shoprite, etc.. Changing the face of Nigeria and taking her to a greater multinational height, more reason they hike or enforce new policies without due process because of the ownership right and power. 4 Likes |

winterfell007: Someone like who? Without SA u'd still be shopping in open-air markets my brother. Who else is building you malls with world-class shopping brands? You would still not have satellite TV. No other country is coming to challenge multichoice Your insurance market is still untapped coz no-one else is interested - Nigeria wasn't established today. Your insurance market has always been there and yet remains underdeveloped. All other countries want from you is just oil dude, so please excusè moi! 3 Likes

TMKsouth:South Africa is here because there is money here. We did not ask them to come. You can see how they were begging and lobbying the government to stay when they were attacked during Xenophobia. Don’t overhype yourself. We still heavily rely on our open air markets. Healthier foods are sold there. 2 Likes |

TMKsouth:I see you are jobless and don’t know what you are talking about. You are embarassing yourself. South African companies cannot make the money they make in Nigeria, in SA. That is why they are here. They are not doing Nigerians any favor or improving anything. Shoprite is overpriced and unhealthy. You insulted our open air markets like ShopRite is supposed to be better. You are a child, you don’t even know what you are talking about 2 Likes |

TMKsouth: Do you know how many local indigenous brands are already setting up shopping malls? I can agree shoprite set the pace but the locals are gradually filling the void As for DSTv, they're other brands in the market like Startimes, ACTV, etc. The only reason DSTv still takes the lead because of its fraudulently acquired exclusive rights to some premium channels like Supersport, Mnet and others. Don't delude yourself, if SA wasn't here, we'd still do that all the same. You're SA investors are always thanking their stars everyday for making a wise decision of setting up in Nigeria, their profit margins are fantastic and you know that Peace out!!! 1 Like |

winterfell007: You've just proven my point about SA ingenuity and now we have a stranglehold on your economy. You've also admitted that we've helped u get on your feet. Believe me even if SA goes no one else is coming to that country except for oil. Of course we make fantastic profits, there are 200 million of you with nothing to show for that bulk. Just admit, we're outsmarting you. 1 Like |

I always tell people that you cannot compare Nigeria's economy with that of South Africa. South African companies are far more buoyant and highly capitalized than Nigerian companies. There was one research that was conducted by Forbes to measure the quality of highly capitalized companies in Africa - that is multibillion dollar companies. It was found out that Nigeria have just 38 while South Africa have 349 multi billion dollar companies. The profit of DSTV alone can rival the turnover of any major capitalized company in Nigeria. 2 Likes |

Focusmind: Can you provide the link to the data and let's see. Sometimes we need to analyse data critically before making conclusions. There are many foreign companies in South Africa and that's an advantage. Also SA has foreign companies more than any country in Africa. The white sees the place as a friendly place for their investments. And it's also not new that SA has white pple more than any country in Africa and the white dominates their economy. So the statistics might feature more of those white companies in the statistics you saw. Even if we are to look at it critically how many companies are owned by indigenous black South Africans? How many multi billion dollar companies are owned by the blacks there? The MTN, Shoprite, DSTV and co we talk as SA great companies in Africa are they owned by indigenous black South Africans? When you talk about companies owned by blacks. I mean indigenous black... no country has it more than Nigeria. In Nigeria from Dangote Groups to Glo Telecom to Interswitch to Paystack to Flutterwave to GTB to Sterling to Dantata Construction to Innoson Manufacturing and so on... These are big companies owned by Indigenous Black Nigerians. The recent Forbes list of Entrepreneurs in Africa had Nigerians topping the list. We can take a cue from the list of Billionaires in Africa. Nigeria has 4 while SA has 5. And if you analyse that of SA very well you will see that only one of the 5 is a black SA... the rest are white guys. If you want to be shocked at how many indigenous companies we have in Nigeria just check the competition thread of Igbo and Yoruba on who has more companies (or so can recall the title perfectly) here on Nairaland. You will be shocked by the list. And besides that's just two major tribes in Nigeria ooo. By the time we list that of Hausa and Niger Delta... it will be something else. What we need now is infrastructure. And this is where I respect SA the most. With good infrastructure no country comes close in Africa. We are still competing with SA because we have infrastructure problem. Let's get it right and watch the change. SA is doing well but a country like Nigeria is on another level and we should not try to look down on ourselves especially when it comes to owning our thing and controlling our economy as an indigenous black people. winterfell007:You have a point and he has a point also but for a country to grow, the government needs to put in place an enabling environment to support its local investors. We have lots of great thinkers but how do we make use of them when the environment is not helping..We also need to value ourselves home and abroad. A country with less or no basic utilities lack of security and many more are the ones killing the local investors .. |

TMKsouth:Well u are very stupid. The right question should be " where would South African blacks be without Nigeria's help" idiot Check the positions in that salam group and see if you can see any black as a director. Who's the owner? Idiot. Without Nigeria, would Mtn or dstv be existing? |
