Anyone that didnt read this book probably had a NEPA certificate cheesy

There is a book that every educated Nigerian has read sometime in their lives. Your grandparents or great-great Grandparents may have read it if they attended at least Standard 6 (or present day Primary Six). If you haven't heard about Queens Primer, then you did not attend Nursery and Primary school in Nigeria.

Queen's Primer is an elementary textbook written to introduce and teach students how to read, write and spell in 'Queens' English. It was first published in 1800s in London by T. Nelson and Sons, (a publishing firm that began in West Bow, Edinburgh, Scotland in 1798) and still in use today! This means that the English Colonialists taught us English Language with it and handed it over to us. This is where we learnt how to read, spell, write and tables. It has been reprinted, redesigned over the years so we now have the book in colour. It is now printed in Nigeria by Nelson Publishers Ltd in Ibadan, Nigeria.

If you hear someone speak, I am "wenting", it is possible that person didn't go to school or didn't take English lessons from Queen's Primer seriously.

So, did you read it? What lessons from the book do you still remember?

Okonkwo stood looking at the dead man. He knew that Umuofia would not go to war. He knew because they had let the other messengers escape. They had broken into tumult instead of action.

I remember how "I go up, up I go."
This post is also giving me a nostalgic feeling of that Ali and Simbi reader we used, alongside some novels like Born Without A Silver Spoon, Eze Goes To School, Sugar Girl, Chike And The River.
