So, what is the main concept of the Skyscraper Technique;
The link building strategy where you improve existing popular content and replicate the backlinks is known as Skyscraper technique.

How does it work?
1) Select a popular article:
The most important first step would be to find a competitive keyword or a phrase and enter it into any tool like ahrefs or SEMrush to retrieve the most popular content for that particular keyphrase and select the one with a lot of backlinks.

2) Improve the article:
Once you have selected the topic go through the original content and list down what are the main points missing from the article. You can start improving your content with a lot of reports, cases studies, new images and give an in-depth explanation for all listings or topics.

Always remember don't ever try this technique with the mindset of including mediocre content while improving original content because if an article ranks above all others for the same keyword then it must be top-notch, that is why people link it to their websites for reference if their visitors. So the content you are improving should be at least one notch above the existing popular content.

3) Outreach via Email:
When you complete the above two steps, next would be reaching out to the people that have already linked to the existing popular content.

Find the websites that are linking to the original content as per your requirement like language, do-follow, location, a platform using tools and reach them via email explaining them about how your article is improved and it is better than the previous article they have linked to.

This technique will gather you backlinks, even it is less but if it comes from an authority site then it is better because the quality of a backlink is important more than the quantity of backlink.
