A 17-year-old teenager has been arrested for faking her own kidnap in Ogun State.
The girl identified as Seun Adekunle was arrested alongside her 25-year-old boyfriend, Basit Olasunkanmi.
On Thursday, June 4, the mother of the girl, Bukky reported at Enugada police division, ogun state, four days after she did not see her daughter.
According to her, the last time she saw her daughter was when she sent her to the market on Monday, June 1.
The mother disclosed that she received a call from someone two days after she didn’t see her daughter and the caller claimed to have kidnapped her.
The caller made a demand for the sum of N500,000 as ransom and warned her against going to the police if she wants her daughter alive.
Police investigation led them to the hideout where the girl and her boyfriend were staying as they waited for the ransom to be paid.
Preliminary investigation further revealed that the boyfriend, who is a butcher, was the one who brainwashed the girl and initiated her into the plan because he needed money.
