Biafra Is Dead by Nobody: 3:14pm On Jan 23, 2011
Some months ago when travelling to Eastern Nigeria, just near owerri, we happened across a bunch of misfits / revelers driving a pick-up wagon recklessly and waving a colorful flag and all the while, releasing round after round of shotgun fire into the air like there was no tomorrow. I noticed they kept ululating a particular word at every gunshot fired. the word was Biafra. i cringed inwardly to see that this were a certain group who were to enlighten and educate the public on the gains of joining Biafra. these youths looked drunk and stoned and extremely dangerous. well, on settling down in the motherland, i noticed that the only groups of people that upheld biafra and the biafran dream were the drunks, troublemakers, and the downcast. one welder even boasted openly that he would be one of the governors when biafra takes sit. i cringed once again, but openly. Biafra is a pipe-dream that some who weren't even born when it seemed like a good idea cling to like it were life's breast. My Igbo brothers and Barbies, pls when the whole world is becoming a global village, would it be proper to continue smoking the pipe of biafra and giving ourselves lucid hallucinations over what wouldn't work in this present time and age. Biafra is not worth all the trouble when i consider the ilk of people who uphold it.

Kpam. i have spoken. pls withhold every attack cos it would only be counterproductive.

I don't know why people just choose to be ignorant. As far as i'm concerned i don't see anything with some group of people wanting a seperate country and some people not wanting biafra. It's a matter of choice. And how does the world being a global village have to do with biafra. Some people and ignorance sha.

I thought this dude is intelligent enough to draw reasonable conclusion from his/her post. Believe you me; I shall waste no time to sojourn to any African countries where the political atmosphere could spur a roadside welder to freely entertain the idea of becoming a governor.

It is very interesting that the welder you looked upon with a disdainful stare had better intellect than you in concluding that Nigeria is a total cesspit and Biafra would offer better opportunities.

but the current colonial created contraption that you currently inhabit known as nigeria is run by murderers, ex drug barons, ritualists and kleptocrats - is that your idea of progress?

How about the fact that in a country which generates billions in oil revenue annually the average nigerian citizen lives on a dollar a day - is that progress?

Biafra is a pipe-dream that some who weren't even born when it seemed like a good idea cling to like it were life's bosom. Maybe its better to continue smoking the pipe of nigeria where life is cheap and where corrupt leaders are praised and worshipped by sychophantic followers.

Global village indeed! What have you benefitted from living in this so called global village?  being exploited by your leaders and western multinational corporations? give me a break.
