A coalition of 18 trade unions at the Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, has protested against the alleged imposition of illegal levies on traders by the Iyaloja General, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo. The PUNCH gathered that traders at the ICT hub started the protest last Monday and shut the market pending the resolution of the issues.

The spokesperson for the coalition of trade unions in Computer Village, Nonso Bethel, said some hoodlums working for the new leaders, started charging outrageous sums.

Bethel said the traders endured the charges until the traders were asked to start paying N50 every day.

However, our correspondent gathered that leaders of the coalition were in a meeting with Tinubu-Ojo to resolve the issues.

It is very wrong to impose any form of unjustifiable market levy on traders, especially in this period where businesses are struggling... Even if it's 1 naira!!!

Sorry thought they said she was charging them 1k per day, and that she was the one who locked the shops, now im seeing a different story.what are we supposed to believe now? I still don't think the truth of the matter has co.email out yet, or you guys are just not ready to publish it.

What we heard was that they were to pay #1000 per shop and their shops were locked and not this lies you're peddling.
