ormer President George W. Bush’s spokesman vehemently denied an article from the New York Times that alleged he would not be voting for President Donald Trump in 2020.

The NYT reported Saturday that a slew of high-profile Republicans do not plan on supporting Trump’s reelection. Included in that list was Bush, and the NYT cited “people familiar with their thinking.”
“This is completely made up,” Bush’s spokesman Freddy Ford said in an email according to the Texas Tribune. “He is retired from presidential politics and has not indicated how he will vote.”
The NYT has not yet updated its article with Ford’s statement denying the report.
“Freddy Ford, a spokesman for Mr. Bush, said the former president would stay out of the election and speak only on policy issues, as he did this week in stating that the country must ‘examine our tragic failures’ on race,” the NYT article does note.

Other Republicans who reportedly won’t be voting for Trump this year include Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, Arizona Sen. John McCain’s widow Cindy McCain, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the NYT reported.

Powell has been vocal about his decision, saying on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday that he “cannot in any way support President Trump this year.”

Not a piece for the mainstream media. Even this platform is lending itself to that narrative. Trump actually has enhanced my understanding of the neomarxian 'cultural hegemony' especially as it relates to politics, journalism and the media. There is a massive false consciousness being perpetuated by these platforms. They inform our desire, shape our opinions and determine our agenda's.

The self acclaimed intelligent ones clamour that facts don't matter, exacerbates occurrences to suit their needs. But the true intelligent ones are not the opposite either; rather, they understand the truth is to be sought as it is hidden and kept from by very powerful institutions. They think beyond the matters of oratory and the assertions of logic, to the basis of reality and actions.

They ask; what is my business with the thoughts of supporters and naysayers of this president? and what is the intention of those that suffocate me with such? They ask; what is the history of this man, his records; not to determine his competence but to have a broader understanding and an expectation of his behavior. They ask; what has this president actually done or said? And why does the mainstream media implies at every opportunity to call his administration an inept, failed one? They ask concerning Africans, are we deserving of his loyalty than his people or should he put the needs of your opinions and thoughts over the safety of his people? Where was US economy before the epidemic? Is demanding for credentials an evidence of racism or what exactly has been his reaction towards the senseless murder of Floyd? Did he call the family to share his sympathies? Have your president ever done this? Did he demand for justice, condemning the actions of the cops headson? What will some gain in ensuing demonstration in America? And ask why should demanding for peace, a stop to violence, anarchy and looting be seen as racist behavior by you? What role has the media played? Who controls this media and to what extent is their narration determined by the mob and the wealthy? And finally, why you know more about America politics, than Nigeria? Why, despite the assertions from the mainstream media that America has institutionalized racism, is it top spot for migrants all over the world? And why do millions in the middle east or Africa see America as heaven and the best gift they can give their descendants, if it is institutionally racist or islamaphobic? And why should wanting the place to be more secured, building walls or fences while not destroying bridges be thought of by you to be evidence of racist behavior?

It is politics. Trump emerged putting the establishment of the parties (democrat, Republicans and the media) to a massive test- and folks began to reflect. Certainly, they want back. But it is not beyond politics, this reportage. Don't be too dispensable to being a pawn in their games. Retain your ability to reason, be interested in the right knowledge, not from the media but from the library. And spend your strength on ours. Let us talk know about Ribadu too, if he will continue to make progress in the direction of president Buhari. Let us discuss about Atiku and Tinubu, evaluate how they own our mainstream media in Nigeria and why EFCC cannot pursue justice with them, let us discuss Sowore; our future, our past- and why we should pray for the emergence of Iweala while considering her bias for the western economy.
