"The Act"... A Poem By A Nairalander by Rufflinez: 8:13pm On Jun 09, 2020 |
THE ACT. It left me scattered, My hopes; shattered My bones; battered In a world where no one cares Saddled with a burden too heavy for me to bear Screamed so loud my agony, yet the closest person didn't hear Not my fault I was still little but so ripe Anguished heart of year, no comfort to wipe Tick tock! Watched the men smoking pipe Innocent little me, with a clean heart No knowledge of the poison on the shot dart In just seconds, I was whisked away on a fast moving cart Woke up and I was already on the ground 2 each, No! 3 each!! Argued another, they were probably debating on how many rounds I couldn't run because to some pegs buried in the ground; I was fastened, that I found Dark was their faces, covered with iniquity I pleaded; Sir please, I want to go home back to my family Shut up, You fool! Shouted one who pounced on me with brutality... I felt life leave me with each drop of blood Strong kicks, hits of stick; O God! My haemoglobin now floods Now, my will to fight was broken with rods My legs were torn distance apart each other even the ballerina dancers can't attempt Fear conquered my soul because all I sensed was the worst, without contempt They said; You're very young and seductive, you tempt(us) They were 5 men, far stood another Let's have her for a day or two, maybe another One by one, they defiled me one after the other Broke my hymen with the force of a rocket thrusting into the Galaxy With every shout in plea, I was paid with a deafening slap as Salary For a moment, my brain paused, rebooted and all I could see was digits of 1 and 0 of binary At this moment, I remembered how Daddy came back home and he said; For Six months, my company have been owing me, I've been paid We were all happy, with Mum dancing but on the Couch I laid Take this! Dad told me; Go get something at the Supermarket down the street Get Groceries and for your little siblings; get them sweet on the stick Lollipop! I promptly corrected him. He said Ok but be fast, you better sprint On my way, I didn't notice the demons lurking But I observed, they were side-talking Didn't pay much attention as I continued walking Here I am now, with no ounce of strength left in me So broken and battered, swollen face and eyes I couldn't even see Ruin is my future, what shall become of me? Who will I be? After 3 hours of continuous torment and horror by 6 men, I knew I only felt my heart beat but didn't feel my legs They all left one at a time and the last loosened me from the pegs I forgot everything I ever knew in life except the last alphabet; letter Zed Don't remember how I came out, but I woke up in a hospital bed I'd never be the same even if I'm Spirit led Lost every sense of humanity, now they just call me "VICTIM WEIRD" #SayNoToRape #SayNoToDomesticViolence -by Rufflinez
