My life at this age, hasn't been a case of merry go round,

I won't even call it a rollercoaster ride,

It been more of a two sided coin,

That has pain and agony drawn on either side.

My life at this age, hasn't built on it early promises,

Or the little fulfilment I have had has come in purple batches,

The joy I have seen hasnt been something concrete,

The one that was came with ephemerality.

My life at this age, has been nothing but a bitter dose,

That had found a home deep down my throat,

Releasing nothing but biliousness into my soul,

Binding my body into an unfamiliar strange hold.

My life at this age,has been years of dreams and ambition,

Promises that won't stop getting shadowed by the reality of pains,

It has been more talks of a better tomorrow,

Tomorrow that has failed to conquer the agony of yesteryears.

My life at this age,has been more of painful June 13's,

The sad reminder of the years that has passed Me by,

The tales of growth that has brought no growth,

Laughter that was imprisoned in the cage of sorrow.

Sadly another June 13 is on the horizon,

Another misery lies in wait,

But please be considerate on me,

Kindly do me the favour of not wishing me happy birthday.

I once questioned myself on the reasons why I should mark my birthday.
Is it to celebrate the beginning of the pains life has fed me?
or to celebrate how close I am to the grave?
Now, Every 14th June has become a day to reevaluate my journey so far,
and a day to decide on how best to live out the rest of my days on Earth.
#look at the mirror and be nice enough to wish that survivor staring at you a "Happy birthday".
The words might be heavy on your tongue, but force your tongue to carry that heavy loaded words.
open the gates of yours lips, and force those words out,
then sit back and watch your heart breath a sigh of relief and your face paints itself with smiles.
