The Edo State Government has warned that it will spare no resources within the ambit of the law to bring to justice any individual or group importing political thugs through riverine communities and other state borders to unleash mayhem on the people.
In a statement on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, said reports of such movements of hoodlums had been received and the government would ensure that those culpable of such acts were identified, arrested and prosecuted.
He said, “The Edo State Government has received intelligence reports that some unscrupulous politicians are mobilising hoodlums from neighbouring states to come into Edo through the riverine communities and other land borders, to cause mayhem.

“We want to put the public on alert and warn them to be wary of strange faces and movements in their neighbourhoods. Once such suspicious persons are identified, members of the public are advised to alert security agencies and the government so that appropriate action will be taken.”

Osagie warned that the state government would exert the full weight of the law in ensuring that individuals and groups who violate extant laws aimed at protecting and safeguarding the people were brought to book.

The statement added,“In this light, we warn those stockpiling arms and plotting to cause mayhem to be assured that the government will spare nothing in ensuring that they are identified, arrested and brought to justice, no matter who they are.”

If nothing else at all, the fact you refused to swear in 14 members out of 24 members of the state assembly duly elected by the people for more than a year now, that alone is enough for you to be dealt with.

You openly and public ridicule and throw direct insults at someone who sweated day and night for more than six months to ensure you won both the primaries and the main election even if nobody knew you in Edo state, that's the height of it. Funny enough we have not heard from you that he is demanding millions or billions from you, you did all these to him simply for political differences. Even if you win this election, posterity will judge you.


Whoever advised Obaseki didn't do him well at all. I just hope Philip shuaibu is not silently working against him.

Generally, I see all Nigeria politicians as looters. But still Obaseki hasn't done bad, he speaks less yet we keep feeling governance. (A.k.a: wake & see.). I think that is what good governance should be, not those empty promises and mouth making. Even Oshomhole's 8years is nothing compared to Obaseki 4 years. Nigeria don't have electoral system yet, that is why it will be difficult for a credible candidate even as an incumbent to win under any "just" political platforms. Imaging Buhari & Atiku coming first & second where more viable, dynamic and sound minded youths who also contested.
