As the change of baton in Ondo State Government House approaches, many political gladiators expectedly have thrown themselves into the race to succeed Governor Akeredolu.

Many political big wigs and intellectuals from different works of life have already activated their political machinery to clinch the plumb job. One of such contenders is Harvard trained administrator and Former Deputy Clerk of Nigeria’s National Assembly, Olayide Owolabi Adelami.

A native of Owo in Ondo State, Adelami’s aspiration is anchored on his conviction that Indigenes of the state deserve a better deal. Unlike many career politicians jostling for the job, Adelami believes that governance should be totality about service to the people and using the state’s limited resources to better the lives of the people.

Since its creation in 3rd February 1976, Ondo State has had a fair share of intellectuals like Adelami as leaders and Adelami entrant into the 2020 governorship is aimed at bringing his intellectual and managerial capacities to take state to the next level having distinguished himself in the Federal Civil Service.

Chief Adelami’s Joined the Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II where he was deployed to work at the Treasury Department in the office of the Accountant General of the Federation and later became a pioneer finance staff of the then Constituent Assembly as if was known in 1988.

Due to Chief Adelami’s Sterling performance, experience and Reputation as an astute manager of resources with enviable integrity, he had the singular privilege of setting up the Finance and Accounts Department of the National Assembly as we come to know it. He was later invited to help in setting up the Accounts Department of the Petroleum Special Trust Fund and a few other agencies. It is worthy of note to state that the National Hospital Abuja was executed and delivered during Adelami’s meritorious career.

Today, Adelami is celebrated across the world for the impact in Nigeria’s Federal Civil. His managerial skills have also been an inspiration to thousands of youths who desire to follow his steps.

In recognition of his enviable impact in the public sector, the energetic administrator have received numerous local and international awards, aside his giant strides in the public terrain, Adelami has also built a quite reputation for himself in the governance sector with his humanitarian gestures to the less privileged, donations to schools and leadership training for youths. Naturally, his foray into politics gravitates towards this direction.

On his quest for Ondo governorship, Adelami is sticking to the terrain his knows like the back of his palm. He believes the way to go is to use his strategy to implement all his agenda, as a way to change the state’s narrative, he plans to harness the vast agricultural potential of Ondo State, He will, however, pay equal attention to other critical areas like healthcare, security and education.

The amount of negativity i hear on a daily basis is unbelievable. But that's the kind of stuff you have to tune out, focus, stick with your vision and keep plugging every day, in the end, the whole Internet thing kills me, because you can use it as a positive thing or you can read into all the negativity.
