What would the world be without Coldplay?
Since The Beatles, Rolling Stones and U2, i dont see any band that has held its own like coldplay. All their albums and tracks are right on spot. to me, they're the rock version of mozart! from Parachut to Rush of Blood to the Head to x & y, this group have the most refreshing taste in modern rock. Cant imagine them rocking lagoit'll be wickiiid.

I just love them and could live on some of their lyrics.

I heard coldplay's Timberland's favorite sound. They also collaborated with Jay Z. Though i've not heard the joint, i heard jay z say in an interview that you get a feel when close to chris martin that he takes his craft seriously. Kanye west is also working on something with coldplay. Brandy used clocks' soundtrack for one of her tracks.

As much as hip hop is embracing this band, i kinda like their sound unadultrated.

Fine band - but The Beatles album "REVOLVER" still the rock album to beat (if one can talk about "beating" when it comes to art). None of them older than 25 when it came out in mid-1966.

Please listen to those albums and then talk about Coldplay in the same breath.

I love coldplay too; i just love the way they keep it on the slow tip without removing the "rock" flava but i wouldn't cross the line by saying they are the best - way too many bands out there that really rock.
but they definitely try to put out positive messages in their songs and i guess that's just about enough to place 'em in the top half of the drawer anyday - i still got probs trying to figure out that "clocks" song though

Yea, coldplay can't be placed at d top just yet and yea, clocks is too subliminal laced, hard to figure but I think he was talkin' about himself runnin' outta time tryin' to make things right.

Yeah coldplay rocks it. I love this track called "Fix You" its too tight.

coldplay was one of the bands that initiated me into rock. they really rock. i love the way they deliver their lyrics and lace it with sublime strings and all. really tite.
i'll definitely place them in my top 5 bands. . . with staind, nickelback, fallout boy and, ,red jumpsuit apparatus

i also dig coldplay, i actually dont like all the tracks on their alblums, their recent album was okay though, but u gotta give it to maroon 5, red hot chillipeppers (though way off atimes), i guess album sales is what really matters!

U dont seem to know much about ur rock bands

all those band u've mentioned are all of different styles, so the basis of comparison isnt a levelled one

evanessence plays gothic rock and alternative metal

linkin park is nu metal and staind plays alternative metal

the cranberries play irish alternative rock while RHCP play american alternative rock (yes there is a difference)

you could only really compare REM and coldplay as they're styles are rather similar but Coldpalys style is more modern while REM sound more retro. . ,

its a lil different from the usual coldplay style. but it still rocks though.

Coldplay is definitely the best band around their sound is unique and they are the first rock band i really digged.Their joint with Jay-Z is a classic yall need to hear it

you did not just call me out on categories of rock. don't even go there. the title of the thread says Coldplay is the best band ever. there was no classification in his statement so why shld i be bothered because ur trying to find a niche as small as possible so you can crown coldplay king?

when we compare genres we compare across board we don't compare sub genres. real humans don't do that. and even if you do thats you, i'll compare whoever the hell i want,  as long as i have all those artistes together on one cd which i call a rock cd i'll bloody well compare them if i want to.

everybody knows the different perceived categories of rock,  we just here trying to have fun deciding who the ultimate rock band is regardless of genre so please join the fun or go elsewhere and pat yourself on the back for knowing the different categories of rock.
