Hello all. We have hundreds of fertile and secure farmland, best suited for maize/soya farming, in Kaduna state available for lease to interested persons.

We've written a free report to provide new-entrants with firsthand information of what it takes to engage in maize/soya farming.

Summary

Nigeria produces a wide range of agricultural commodities, which could serve as raw materials for industrial production and food crop for human consumption. This dual nature of these crops makes them to be in high demand and two of such crops are Maize and Soyabeans.

Maize/soya are cereal crops that grows across a range of agro-ecological zones in Nigeria, though it is grown slightly more in the Northern part of the country. Two types of maize are grown in Nigeria, the yellow and white variety and due to its rate of adaptability, Maize is not a seasonal product and some of the major producing states in Nigeria includes Kaduna, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Gombe, Taraba, Plateau, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Nasarawa ,Niger and Zamfara.

As shown in the write-up, the cost implication of cultivating one (1) hectare of land is two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000). This covers the cost of farmland lease, farm preparation, hybrid seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and farm labor.

One (1) hectare of land is expected to yield an average of 4 tons (40 bags). When cross planted with soyabeans, an average yield of one and a half (1.5) ton of soyabean is also expected. As at now, the average cost of maize is ten thousand five hundred naira (N10,500) per bag while that of soyabeans is eleven thousand naira (N11,000) per bag.

Assuming that after harvest, the price of maize becomes nine thousand naira (N9,000) per bag and that of soyabeans becomes ten thousand naira (N10,000) per bag, it implies that a minimum return of five hundred and ten thousand naira (N510,000) is expected from cultivating maize on one (1) hectare of farmland within a period of four months.
