Hello So a week ago, out of lockdown boredom, I decided to plant tomatoes. I love experiments so I decided to apply different methods It's just a few tomato plants o, that's why I called it tiny (maybe there's a name for a tiny farm ) |

SEEDS I got my seeds from the tomatoes my Mum bought from the market I selected the big ones lol Maybe I'll buy seeds next time NURSERY I used sachet water nylon as my nursery, cut it at the top transversely I cut the edges at the bottom to allow excess water drain out Then added soil (about 3/4 of the capacity of the nylon) I planted about 2 seeds in each, some like 4 |

Boss learn as much as you can from this "little farm" Next time before you plant the seeds, mix the soil with manure and maybe small fertilizer if possible, and buy standard seeds if possible next time so you can predict their characteristics. 1 Like |

Boss those tomato seedlings are not doing well, the war is won or lost at the seedling nursery stage...I know it's not commercial, but who doesn't like the tomato fruits of his labour ? 1 Like |

izzyboi:Those tomato seedlings are suffering and the essence of the nursery is failing. They are choked up, you need to apply thinning ie remove those that are performing poorly. Ideally, you should have a seed or two per sachet. Also, you should grow under moderate shade and controlled water supply. 2 Likes |

tobyemmanuel:Okay, I'll apply thinning. Thank you I've been leaving them out in the rain sha. I was growing them them under moderate shade but the leaves were turning yellow? |

ideepaul:Lol I noticed too, what do you suggest I correct? |
Re: My Tiny Tomato Farm by tobyemmanuel(m): 3:17am On Jul 12, 2020 |
izzyboi: That's because they are crowded. Tomato seedlings don't necessarily need high sunlight for now. Just ensure the soil fertility is high and water is sufficient. 1 Like |

UPDATE I transplanted the tomatoes directly to the soil. They seem to be doing well. Now it seems over crowded, I didn't know they would become as big as this. But I think the spacing between the roots are quite okay
