You might say, Russia wouldn't want any instability in the euro zone and therefore wouldn't support China.

But Russia is closer to China than even Europe because they're not even allies to the European nations.
The same European nations who joined the US in placing sanctions on Russia wouldn't easily forget that.
Russia is not part of the G7 because of it's European counterparts, when Trump wanted to add Russia back to the G7 Germany rejected it.
Russia and China have been doing joint military drills together, so in defense they're closer. How would you take sides with your enemies.

Most allies of the US are in the EU and UK remember hasn't fully pulled out of the EU, talks are still on-going, the Queen has made it clear that the UK should remain in the EU, Brexit would deal negatively with the UK but I feel it would also make UK stronger like the US...
