Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) . The virus is passed from person to person through blood,semen or other body fluids. It doesn't spread by sneezing or coughing. For some people, hepatitis B infection becomes chronic, meaning it lasts more than six months. Having chronic hepatitis B increases ones risk of developing liver failure,liver cancer or Cirrhosis,is a condition that permanently scares of the liver.
How does contract hepatitis B
(1) One can contract it through sex,if you have unprotected sex with an infected person
(2) Sharing of needles ,syringes contaminated with infected blood
(3)Accidental needle sticks
(4) From mother to unborn child
Symptoms of hepatitis B
Signs and symptoms of hepatitis B ranges from mild to severe. They usually appear about one to four after one has been infected, although you could see them as early as two weeks post infection. Some people usually young children may not have any symptoms.

(1) Acute hepatitis B infection,it last less than six months, when the immune system is strong,it can clear it from the system and the person will recover completely within a few months. Most people who get hepatitis B as adults have an acute infection but it could lead to chronic infection.
(2) Chronic hepatitis B infection lasts six months or longer. It lingers because the immune system can't fight off the infection. Chronic hepatitis B infection may last a lifetime, possibly leading to serious illnesses such as Cirrhosis and liver cancer

(1) Take hepatitis B vaccine if your are in these groups
Newborns
Children and adolescents not vaccinated at birth
People who live with someone who has hepatitis B
Health care workers and emergency works
Anyone who has a sexually transmitted infection including HIV
Men who have sex with men
People who have multiple sexual partner
People with chronic liver disease
People with end stage kidney diseases
Travelers
