PETITION TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER (NSA) ON MISMANAGEMENT OF THE AMNESTY PROGRAMME

The President,
Commander-in-Chief,
Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Through;
The National Security Adviser,
Aso Rock, Abuja.

Sir.

Our highly inestimable, President and Father of the Nation, we extend our warmest greetings and regards.

It is with the deepest heart of brokenness that we present to you, this petition, on subject matter, asking for your intervention to ensuring justice is done.

We decided to use this medium to register our displeasure, on the form and manner, the *Amnesty Programme* is being run, which is a clear *deviation* from its original plan and purpose. We chose this option, rather than take to the Streets on *protest*;

First, as a mark of respect for the Office of The President, as law abiding Citizens, and

Second, in compliance to the rules and measures on control of the COVID-19 pandemic, as directed by Mr President.

Sir, we could recall vividly in one of your maiden speeches when you took over the reign of governance, as you highlighted, how important the *development of the Niger Delta Region* is to you. We strongly believe your position has not changed.

You didn't leave anyone in doubt in your resolve to achieve the desired results, as you have demonstrated that in your approval of various capital projects that have *direct bearing* on the Niger Delta people.

However, considering the *Amnesty Programme,* particularly, *Students' welfare*, the manner in which those saddled with the responsibility of running the programme, presently do, leaves much to be desired.
Sir, without being immodest, you will be shocked to hear that, Amnesty Students are presently owed their monthly stipends, for *four(4) months, while some three(3) years* without sign of payment in sight soon. The unpleasant development, coupled with the current economic reality on ground, as ocassioned by this pernicious COVID-19 pandemic, has further aggravated the plights of the Students.

Your Excellency, Sir, to say, alot is going wrong in the *Amnesty Programme* at the moment, will be an understatement.
It is very disturbing to note that Students, who are entitled to a Laptop each, to enhance their learning, are about to graduate, four years into the programme, without a single device. For us, it's absolute *injustice and sheer wickedness* on the part of the handlers of the *Amnesty Programme,* and we see it as a *deliberate act to frustrate the good intentions and efforts of Mr President.*

Mr Preisident, we have no doubt that, your Office is not in the knowledge of this inhumane act, and could not have been a directive from you, but an expensive administrative ineptitude from the relevant authorities.

The Amnesty Programme (Office) has it, as a tradition, in collaboration with Institutions where it has delegates studying one Course or the other, to *provide them with books and other essential materials* that aid learning, but all of a sudden, this noble practice has been stopped leaving Students handicapped, as they lack learning gears.

The issues raised on this petition, are mere *tip of the iceberg,* compare with the *rot* that has eaten deep into the nerves of the *Amnesty Programme*.

In all humility, we appeal and implore, Your Excellency, to intervene and reverse the ugly trend. There is an urgent need for a *revaluation* as well as an *appraisal* of the *handlers of the Amnesty Programme,* to achieve its aims and objectives.

Finally, we strongly believe that our *Petition* would be given the urgent attention that it deserves.

God Bless The President, FRN!
God Bless The Amnesty Programme!
God Bless Niger-Delta!
God Bless NIGERIA!

*Comrade Umukoro Nesta Dimbainimibofa,*
President, PAP Students,
Igbineduon University Okada, Edo State.

It was addressed to the NSA plus the president has private secretaries who do that for him.
Sometimes keep sentiments aside and make a comment with common sense.
