There should be death penalty for many crimes in Nigeria, the country has no money to care for ingrates for 16 years.

WE have a similar case in River state where on Mr KELLY NWOGU defrauded over 550 persons of N800,000.000 on land related case and EFCC is doing nothing about it. Playing politics with the case. He has been granted bail in court just recently.

Imagine this woman cheating women who are already deep in poverty, where is peoples conscience.

Unless capital punishment is metered out, cases like this would continue. Adopt China mode(Capital punishment)l for corrupt individuals from Top to Bottom and see corruption decrease.

One million is small momey to you yes... But you see what she collected from each of her victims... it could be whoel family's feeding allowance for up to six months... Btw... it seems shes even employed herself.... so she has salary even if small (yet must exceed minimum wage) that she draws every month... Yet, avarice still made her defraud widows of all people.

I think the jail term should be reduced.. but she needs to be publicly punished/shamed..... and her crime needs to be publicised..

China only uses capital punishment in extreme cases of corruption and in most cases, the victims are people in the bad graces of the CCP.

Punishment is not what deter commission of crimes, otherwise there would be no drugs in Malaysia, Singapore or China. It is easier to smuggle drugs en masse into Thailand than into Australia despite the fact that Thailand has a death sentence for it. People would commit a crime if the rewards are fantastic and if they can get away with it. The punishment is a secondary concern. After all, you only get punished if you are caught or convicted.

If you put a death penalty for corruption today, it is petty scammers who would go in for it. So it is not the punishment that's the issue.

And by the way for those who clamor for death penalty for offences, are you going to be the one to carry out these death sentences? Have you met an executioner and seen the massive toll it takes on their mental health? There is a reason Nigeria has many people on death row with no death warrant signed.
