He is the most controversial, eccentric and famous President of the United States of America. Donald John Trump who is currently the 45th President of the US (as at the time of this writing), was born on the 14th of June, 1946 in Queen’s, New York City. He is the fourth child of five siblings. His father, Fredrick Christ Trump, was a well known real estate developer in New York City, while his doting mother, Maryanne Trump, was an astute philanthropist.

Mr. Trump before the Presidency was an American Entrepreneur, television personality and an underdog, yet vocal politician. He gained a major popularity when he obtained the rights as the Republican Party nominee for the 2016 United States presidential elections; an election which surprisingly he eventually won. Trump started out in real estate business with a ‘meager’ loan of $1 million from his father, and since then has built for himself a respectable numbers of real estate properties including hotels, golf courses, casinos, and even a residential area. Though Trump has recorded quite a number of ‘overtly’ publicized successes, there are a still a few interesting facts you may not have heard about him, and we would begin our countdown of them in no chronological order.

1. He Has Been Married To 3 Different Women.
Ivana, Marla and Melania.

Yes, you heard it right! Trump is no saint when it comes to extramarital affairs and divorces. His first wife was Ivana Maria Trump (nee Zelničkova), she was a smart and beautiful Czech-American fashion model and sports athlete. They both got married in 1977. Ivana was a very resourceful woman and so, was trusted with executive managerial responsibilities at Trump’s businesses. Trouble started between them when she discovered that Trump was having an affair with an American actress by the name Marla Maples, this then led to their divorce in 1992. Ivana had 3 children for Trump: Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric. In 1993, Trump married his lover, Marla Maples, but this marriage was quite rocky from the start to when they got separated in 1997 and finally divorced in 1999. She had one girl child for Trump named Tiffany.

In 2005, Trump got married again to his long time partner, the Slovakian, former model and jewelry designer, Melania Trump (nee Knavs).She would go on to give birth to Trump’s fifth and youngest child, Barron Trump, on the 20th of March 2005. She is currently the first lady of the United States with Trump as President.

2. Trump Does Not Drink Alcohol Or Abuse Substance.
It may surprise you to know that the world’s most powerful President, who most probably can afford to do whatever he feels like, is totally sober and clean. Despite his power and prestige, Trump has never taken any alcohol, done drugs or smoked a single cigarette, even for a day, in his life. This decision could be well attributed to several warnings from his elder brother who was stuck on the bottles. Trump watched his elder brother, Fred Jr, suffer from alcoholism which eventually took his life in 1981, as he ultimately died from complications due to his excessive drinking addiction. Trump learnt to avoid alcohol from his brother’s mistakes.

However, although Trump doesn’t drink alcohol, he certainly encourages others to do so. In 2006, he launched a new Vodka brand named, Trump Vodka. This product did well for about a year before recession and a drop in sales/consumer ratings forced its production to a halt in the year 2011.

3. He Was An Energetic Child Growing Up.
Some say Trump was troublesome growing up, others call it a display of energy. Anyways, Trump wasn’t the cool headed kid in the block while growing up, and his mother in an interview with The Biography Documentary confirmed this fact. Due to some of his unruly behavior, he was kicked out from the prestigious Kew Forest private school which his father was a member of its board of Trustees. This prompted his father to send him to the New York military academy, which was a boarding facility.

At the academy, he benefited greatly as he learnt discipline and good behavior, thus channeling his energy into something positive. He graduated in 1964 with the rank of Captain and continued his college education at Fordham University and the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a bachelor in Economics.

4. He Had Attempted To Run For President Before.
Before running as the Republican party’s presidential candidate for the 2016 US presidential elections, Trump had shown interest in running for the position of president in the past; more than once. In 1988, Trump first considered running for the exalted position but later chose to withdraw. Another attempt was in the year 2000.

In the year preceding the 2000 US presidential elections, Trump took the idea of running for Presidency more seriously. He aligned with the Reform Party and created an exploratory committee to help with his campaign which lasted a few months. Though his journey ended abruptly due to internal conflicts with the party and a sudden pull out from the race. He later described the party as ‘dysfunctional’.

Again in 2014, he speculated running for president under the Republican Party, but later changed his mind on the decision. He is currently the 45th President of the United States.

5. His Dislike For Former President, Barack Obama.
In 2011, Trump received a lot of controversial publicity from the media, after throwing aspersions on the credibility of the then Democrat presidential candidate, ex-president Barack Obama. He argued vehemently that Obama was not a citizen of the United States of America and should not be allowed to be President. He corroborated his claims by hiring private investigators to Hawaii (Barack’s birth place) to confirm this accusations. In response, Barack Obama released his Birth Certificate in April 2011 to disprove Trump’s obnoxious claims, this didn’t satisfy the already disgruntled Donald who referred to it as his, “…so-called birth certificate…”.

That same year, Trump again voiced his negative opinion on Obama when he offered the then President a life time access to any of his golf courses, on one condition, that Obama tenders his resignation as President. That was indeed the most hilarious offer to make to president of the most powerful country in the world!

6. He Has Filed For Bankruptcy Several Times.
Trump is considered one of the wealthiest presidents in the United States history, but this doesn’t mean he had never experienced bad times in business. He has indeed been on the verge of both personal debt and huge capital debt of his companies at several points during his life.

The most significant financial debt was accumulated from financing the Trump Taj Mahal casino which filed for bankruptcy in 1991 leaving Trump with a loss of almost 40% ownership of the business he built. Other cases included the Trump plaza bankruptcy in 1992, the Trump hotel and casino resort bankruptcy in 2004 and the Trump entertainment bankruptcy in 2015.

Today, Trump owns more than 100 companies and his total net worth is estimated to be over 4 billion US dollars.

7. No One Knows Trump’s Real Net Worth.
Though everyone knows Trump as a filthy rich man, no one can give a real estimate of the value of his wealth in dollars. This is because he has refused to disclose his tax information to the public. There have been speculated estimates given by some sources.

The Forbes estimates he is worth as much as $4 billion, while others have said it’s anywhere around 2-6 billion dollars. Trump himself has often given conflicting totals, saying that he is worth 3 billion dollars at one time and in others that he is worth up to 12 billion dollars.

Trump also hates it when people wrongly miscalculate his net worth as this, he claims, could affect his business relationship with business partners. In 2009 he had sued the New York times author, Timothy O’Brien for claiming his worth was between 150-250 million dollars, in a book which he published. Though this was serious to Trump, the Court dismissed the lawsuit that same year.

8. Trump Has His Name in A Hall Of Fame.
Trump is a big supporter and fan of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He is also a good friend of the CEO of the WWE, Mr. Vince McMahon. Over the years Trump has been featured in a number of games both on Monday Night raw and Wrestle Mania. He use to own the Monday Night raw franchise and was inducted into the WWE hall of fame in 2013. And more surprisingly, he helped shaved the hair of Vince McMahon after defeating him in a representative match called, “the battle of the Billionaires”.

In the match, played in back in 2007, Trump made a bet with Vince. Each man would choose a superstar to represent them and the loser would be shaved publicly. Unfortunately, Trump won the bet, and so his golden locks survived.

9. He Has A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
In 2007, the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee honored the reality television personality, Donald Trump, with the 2,327thStar on the revered walk of Fame. This was for his contributions to the entertainment industry via the hit reality TV show, “The Apprentice”.

Back in 2004, Trump started his own TV reality show which he called ‘the Apprentice’, on the NBC channel. On the show, contestants would compete in harsh business environments in order to win a job opportunity as a leading executive at one of Trump’s numerous companies. It was a big success for Trump. At the end of each episode, Trump was paid a staggering fee of 375,000 dollars by NBC.

10. Trump Is A Serial Germaphobe.
You may not have heard about this before, but on several occasions and by confirmation of those closest to him, Trump has a paranoia about getting in contact with germs especially through handshaking. Handshaking for Trump is only done due to business or political norms, but taking away these factors, he dislikes shaking people’s hands.

In an Interview with The Biographer, Trump stated that he was a cleanliness freak. Whenever forced into a situation where he had to shake someone, he usually apply the pull-in method of simply grabbing your hands and force you closely to his body. It is sometimes speculated that this action maybe quite unrelated to his fear of shaking hands but rather a power (dominance) move done to control the situation.
