If the current spate of insecurity by way the increasing numbers of banditry as a result of the alleged influx of foreign mercenaries in Nigeria is not nipped in the bud, the Nigerian military and security agencies which are being overstretched as it is will be overrun. The implication of this is that government programs and processes will run amok and be dominated by these alien forces.

The time for the government of the day to be alive to its responsibilities is yesterday.......arresting the leader of a peaceful protest against the wanton destruction of lives and properties particularly in the northern part of Nigeria is counter-productive. That arrest is one too many as this has sent a wrong signal to the international communities as to what the motive of the government is.

Could this be proof that the government of the day supports these constant attacks on its populace? Why should a peaceful protest against the recurring maiming of lives become obnoxious to the government of the day? What is the rationale behind this arrest? What message is being passed?

If the continuous influx of these alleged mercenaries is not checked, the security agencies will be overrun, overpowered, and subjugated to submission. When this happens, the Nigerian nation is gone for good. Is the government of the day having this line of thought? If they do, why is an arrest being made against the leader of a peaceful campaign against such societal ills? Are there elements within the corridors of power that are inclined to this wanton destruction of lives? What is their motive? What do they stand to gain?

Are there non-aborigines of this nation who became Nigerians by a prolonged stay and association but who still nurse the affinity with their foreign brothers/mercenaries who they allegedly empowered against the Nigerian state?

Most Nigerians have been so subjugated with the fear of illegal arrest and detention that they would rather keep mute in the face of this abnormality. This will consume all if drastic action is not taken within the circumference of legal constitutionality. One thing we must know is that a man who fears to take the right step to salvage a situation such as this, is doomed and guilty of unpardonable genocide against a generation of men. Such men are irredeemable.

The government of the day should be alive to its full responsibility of protecting the lives of citizens now. Enough is enough of the wanton destruction of lives and properties. It was once alleged that Boko-haram members have infiltrated the Government of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Do we currently have an increment of the sect's members in the current administration? Is this the reason for the continuous waxing stronger of this banditry and insurgency or simply a complacency by the government? It was alleged that the late Sani Abacha once said ''If Insurgency Last For More Than (24) Twenty Four Hours, The Government Of The Day Has A Hand'' can this be said to be true in the current and persistent worsening security situation?

Is the security architecture weakened already by the alleged infiltration of Boko-haram sympathizers? Is the Nigerian army once known to be the best land forces in the world bereft of counter-insurgency ideas and tactics? Do they lack operational motivation due to demeaning interference with their respective high commands? Do the operators of the insurgency have superior fire-power to that of our security agencies? Do they have better welfare packages? Are the (3) three arms of the Nigerian Armed Forces with sister security agencies not in synergistic sync with each other which is a necessary tool to put a stop to this recurring ugliness of massacre? By synergistic sync, I imply by drawing up an exclusive array of members of the security agencies who will take an oath to put an end to this plaguing menace. Are Nigerians now relapsed into accepting the current state of insecurity as status quo?

I wish to know the thoughts of well-meaning Nigerians on this urgent and demanding security issue. The aggregates of your opinions will be the basis of a proposed value preposition to nip this ugly menace in the bud.
