Can A Nigerian President Or Leader Be Forced Out Of Power? by badesco(m): 8:18am On Jan 29, 2011
The rate at which some African Leaders are being forced out power is on d increase day by day. A recent case study is that of TUNISIA & EGYPT. Now with dis dangerous trend, do you think a Nigerian President/Leader can be forced out of power by its citizens? To me, i forsee it happening in Nigeria sooner than anticipated. How about u Nairalanders ? Your views must honest & no sentiment pls.

Well, no.

The leader of Tunisia was a person who ruled for about 30 years.
That of Egypt ruled for decades (two or three I believe)
That of Algeria and Jordan and Yemen had someone ruling for several years, more than 4.
Also these nations are ruled by a monarch, for the most part.

Plus, as Fela said, Nigerians love life too much to give it up. That's why Nigeria cannot have a revolution. This year, and June 12 (forgot the year) are the closest Nigeria, as a nation, has gotten to a revolt.

June 12 related uprising were d closest to civil revolt in Nig n they coerced IBB in 'stepping aside' n d eventual restoration of democracy in 99

The Tunisian type of revolutn, ?Am not sure due to

1.We luv life n r not ready to lose it sacrificially.
2. The ruthless n tactless leadership leader would v killed more than 100000 pple as against 180 in Egypt after 6 days of protest.

3. Nig is complicately heterogenous wiv pple deeply divided along religion n ethnic line and this had also affected our evaluatn of our leaders since 1960.
Abacha,IBB,OBJ,AWO,ZIK,SARDAUNA,Gowon,Kaduna Nzeogwu etc r each seen as heroes in some parts of d country n as devils in some other part. There4 we can hardly v a consensus opinion about a leader need for a revolutn.

Honestly, methink something must b done about these 'leaders' who r comfortable driving roll-royce on pot holes
